you better read the complete thread until you post something like that.
the price diffrence is $100 before taxes, when he takes the normal version of the gtx 260 in the i7 920 build.
compare his build and mine...
100$ bucks only !

And if you read properly, thats $100 more than his budget. And it has been said he wanted the 55nm version of the 260 nothing else.

i have read that bro... that is the reason why i stated $100 because of the gtx260 version.

i see what is going on here... the guys with the old tech wants to get people still buying the old, because they dont know how good the new generation is.
and for that price diffrence its a nobrainer!
even you still can get the price diffrence lower then the $100!!!
but i dont do your homework anymore!

nevermind... good luck with your build

one more question... do you stick with the stock cooler of the Q6600...????????

Its not that the old technology, is good, and I completely hear you out on the core i7 being the new tech, Its that we are barley able to scrounge up the cash for what he had now. I added it up, from what we had (no card) with 4GB...vs going the cheapest i7/mobo/ram, it was still $100 more, now yes we can downgrade the 6600 ram to the same price to, and we would still be around $50 more expensive. But there is no point to downgrade what we have. Were still have not completed the build as we are about $2-300 short with the case, vista, and a dvd drive, which we are going to take like a week or two to scrounge up the $.

Yes the stock cooler for now and we will get a 120 rifle cooler and over clock from there.

Thanks for posting(arguing), and making my day interesting

Just curious, if you're going to spend that much on a mobo, wouldn't you rather get a X58 one for the same price and just go i7, staying ahead for a few years?

Oh course that's just me.

Why don't we all stop fighting about someone else's components and budget?

There is nothing wrong with 775's and Q6600's. In fact, they still keep up quite well as you can tell by lots of OCN'ers having them

Great build! Have fun building it (it's always my favorite) It will last you for a while to come!

amen brutha!

The person had a budget and didn't want to go past it. no sense in argueing on how he is going to spend HIS money when he already said that he doesn't want to spend $100 more than what he already has.
