Are you 2 going to hold hands while building?

Haha. I'm just teasing you. I wish I had a friend like you. Good luck with the build.

Well chosen, despite all the second-guessers out there. If you're over budget, you're over budget; besides, this thing will last him for a good long time and provide plenty of performance for what his needs are. I could have gone with the i7 on my last build too, but ddr3 is just too much money for me too...at least for a while. Good choice on GPU as well, I have two of them on the way from my step up with EVGA, and it's only costing me 15 bucks shipping. Keep an eye on that step up program over the next few months, you can get a pretty good upgrade especially with some of the new cards coming out in the next couple weeks. If you pick the right time, you may be able to accomplish a pretty solid upgrade with little to no money out of your pocket. My next buy is going to be another 4GB of RAM to really pick things up.
Finally...

I know im a day late (dollar short), but just wanted to say nice build!

i just built a quad setup similar to for the christmas upgrades...

for all the people that dogged you guys on 10 dollar video card diffs, I7 instead of lga775, forget it. They miss the point of the thread and are quite rude at what it was after..

Good luck on your build! and take extra care when fastening the cooler to the mobo, if you do not have it properly seated, it could lead to some overheating problems and could even prevent boot up

cheers!

We got it built in about 2 hours last night...it was ALOT easier than I thought it would be! Started installing drivers and stuff like that right away, and hooked up some COD4, man o man that 260 was nice! Average about 70 FPS with 1280x1024, 4X AA, Max AF...ect ect.. Then we got back from lunch today and we had our new goodie, the Rifle cooler! Holy crap...those push pins felt like I was gonna snap the mobo in half! All in all we got it in just fine(I hope the AS5 contact is good), temps went down about 5-7*C from the stock cooler...were hovering around 35-38*C across all 4 cores, before it was like 40-41. It seems high but then again I dont think the AS5 has had time to seat in fully, that and its not in any kind of case

Graphics card..man that thing never went over 50*C with a 40% fan stock setting, it was amazing!

The rifle cooler was a bit intimidating though..bent a few fins putting those damn rubber things on, but we bent them back straight afterwards.

Here are some pics I took with my Phone

At stock 41% fan the temps were 45*C idle, and around 55*C ish while gaming. The core clock was 626...shader was I think something around 1048, and the mem was around 1400? dont quote me though..going off brief settings we saw in EVGA overclock. We cranked the fan to 100%..its VERY quite!
