DVD optical/drive? Very good set of ear buds/headphones. Good light case/bag.

Sorry do not know mouses very well. I don't know your circumstance but a car adapter is not bad. Even if you don't know if you will need might someday really help? And a 12 pack of Coke if you get thirsty.

I could recommend all kinds of junk but the entire point of those is to be lean and mean. If I start thinking mini printer and so on where would it stop? But an optical drive is a must have?

I agree with above; headphones are a must have.
A 6-cell battery would be a major plus, as well as a slip-case of sorts.

As for mice, I've heard alot of good things about the Logitech VX Nano, although any 5-button mouse would be just fine for me. Logitech and Microsoft are my favorites

The only time I use the optical drive on my desktop is to burn DVDs, besides the obvious formatting
Seems like USB thumb drives completely phazed out floppies by now

This actually got me thinking and so I went ahead and bought a usb GPS reciever, Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009, and a 400 watt AC to DC converter.

Since the HP mini has bluetooth, it can sync up to the pioneer headunit in my car. The software gives turn by turn directions which will be outputted through my car speakers. Great for long trips and the software and GPS only cost me $70 altogether. Try getting a good gps unit for that much. Only problem is that it sits at an awkward angle on my passenger seat so I'm gonna create some type of box for it to sit on so it is at a 180 degree angle.

Thanks for all the responses though. I looked at the vx nano and it's a little pricey for a mouse. If I can find a used one or something on ebay for like $10 then I'll get it.

Keep the comments coming guys. If you think you know something that I should get let me know!

Which receiver did you end up getting? I've been looking at a few on Amazon that are around $50, but I've been looking for info on all available.

I got the Globalsat BU-353. Had good reviews and looks to have all the specs necessary. I can give more details when I get it by the end of the week.
