Can I dual boot?

Thread Starter
Hello,
I was thinking of buying a Vista Home Premium Upgrade from someone on the forums but before I make a definite decision, I was curious if i could dual boot XP and the vista upgrade, or if I cant because the Vista upgrade needs XP (or the other OS's that it has listed) installed already before it will install.

Thanks much,
EFR

The bad news:
A Vista Upgrade Disk will "convert" your XP install into a Vista OS.
There will be no Xp when you're done

The good news:
There are workarounds to do a full install from an upgradr disk. I just don't think they can be discussed here though.

More good news:
If you do the upgrade, you can just reinstall XP again.

The bad news:
Reinstalling XP, after Vista is installed, will make the Vista unbootable.

The good news:
Microsoft has information on how to make Vista bootable again.

Warning: Don't remove hard disks in order to install OSs on the one that's left. Even if you know what you're doing it gets to be a real PITA to dual boot that way.
