I want/need to Underclock my X1900XT

My X1900XT keeps freezing up in games. I'm fairly sure it's either due to heat or lack of power from the PSU (400W Shuttle PSU).

Now, in the ATI Overdrive Utility I can only overclock, there's no option to underclock. The clock speeds start at 620/720.

I tried to grab ATITool, but it keeps saying the 2D/3D Switching isn't available because the ATI Service is disable (It isn't...or I don't have the one I need, which is odd because I've recently updated the drivers, enabling everything)

Your ATI card supports 2D/3D mode switching, but you have the ATI services disabled.
Also, ATITool only seems to show the 2D (500/520) clock speeds, even though the default profile is selected which is set at the full 3D Speeds (620/720). Any attempt to alter this just result sin a driver reset or mild artefacting.

So, how do I underclock my card? Specifically, how do I underclock the 3D mode alone so that it's around 580/680?

That also appears to have just 1 overall clock setting, as opposed to separate 2D/3D settings...

Should do I perhaps need to try an older ATI Driver?

Yes.try that.and remember to uninstall then reboot in safe mode then run driver sweeper and reboot then, and only then, should install the drivers.
