Code/script to open in Firefox, not IE?

Ok, so here's my situation.

I edited the Vista Sidebar's Woot Gadget (well, one of them) to check to see if the current item is a Bag of Crap, and if it is, it retrieves the buy URL and automatically opens a popup window to the purchase URL of the bag of crap (so I don't have to go to Woot and click on the "buy" button, since we know that after I spend all that time I'll never get it).

I don't know if you know how sidebar gadgets work, but they basically use an XML file. For the Woot gadget, that .XML file refers to an HTML file (which also returns to a Javascript file for the functions, loops, and conditions). So, the Woot gadget loads an HTML file. However, the Sidebar program will, of course, render the HTML file in Internet Explorer, rather than Firefox. So, in the javascript file, I used a simple window.open(buyURL) command to open up a window to the purchase page at Woot. But because the page renders in IE in the Sidebar, it opens the popup in IE as well, rather than Firefox. Does anyone know what I could do to open this popup in Firefox instead?

Note: I am assuming that the Sidebar is rendering it using IE, which is the reason that it opens the popup in IE. I don't know this, but it is my assumption.

[EDIT] And yes, Firefox has been set to be my default browser (I double checked).

Many, many thanks to anyone for any assistance!

Oh, yes. I forgot to mention that. I even considered that last night when I was doing this, so I double checked. I'm 100% sure that Firefox is set to my default browser for everything that I can make it default for.

I thought I had everything, but doing the control panel -> default programs -> associate file -> sort by "current default", I saw that I had more things set to IE than FF.

Try control panel -> default programs -> set program access, and remove access for IE.

Alright, I'll try that. However, I am currently booted into Ubuntu, so when I get a chance to reboot, I'll reboot into Vista and give that a try.

I'd rather not run FF as admin, because then Vista's UAC would prompt me to allow it to run each time I run it, and I don't want to turn UAC off...

I did that, disabled access to IE, and it still opened it in IE...

And yes, I did close and restart the sidebar.

What are you using for a java host? Standard MS default? That may be the problem.
