BSOD atikmdag.sys !!! Help!

Thread Starter
I keep getting this after having my laptop on for a few hours to a few days!

I have it plugged in, have the specs below. And...

I have it COOLED with a (forgot name dual fan thing). And both have been compressed air cleaned thoroughly.... Power is stable to the cooler, and it still does this randomly and states...

atikmdag.sys

0x00000116 0x86fff220 and a few other random things.

I have thoroughly updated my ati drivers to the most recent. Just a week ago...

Any theories?????

Thanks!

- Le_Loup

P.S. Vista Home Premium drivers are up to date. So is bios, etc.

I believe i heard about that being a problem with the newest drivers. Try going back to the other ones. Also, take your OC off. That may help

that is incorrect sir
atikmdag.sys crashes are not new
Its been happening to people that have vista (sometimes xp) with ATI cards
if you google the topic, you will get a lot of forums about these crashes
it's a conflict in the drivers that are causing this, NOT overheating
sadly, currently there is no fix for this
here are some sites for more info if you want them
http://forums.amd.com/game/messagevi...=y&STARTPAGE=1
http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers...ver-crash.html
you could also google atikmdag.sys and you will find millions of results

The laptop can be decently stable if I keep it's "lid" open during use, but when I close it, I need it active, but not sleep mode, just screen off, so i've rigged that and it still has "issues". I am now using a 2nd monitor, (22" BenQ lcd w/ 1080p hdmi, vga, dvi-d inputs ). Which i'm running vga 1920x1080 on.

My video "catalyst" settings are based on performance, not "colour enhancemends" or "visual perfection". Just smooth speeds.

BSOD happens "outside" of games. The only game that activates bsod on STARTING the game on this laptop, sadly... is supreme commander... (can't game with my other 3 roommates networked, grr).

I have more information on the "bsod" here.

And my laptop i'm using is by Toshiba (I have chosen NOT to call them again, due to the fact they are useless, when google is better then them... and a 95% better success rate).

Toshiba A200-TJ9

psae6c-tj908c <--- It's a model #, not a serial, for driver reference i've dl'ded the 2007 drivers, which i'll try to "roll back to". <-- Any help there please???

And here's the most recent bsod....

I am still having problems with this, i've tried the alternate fixes,

ie, Vista sp2 beta. (Cured it for 3days).

Tried to uninstall the drivers and catalyst entirely... it bsod DURING uninstall of this...

Had to reinstall just drivers, and THOSE CAME with the dang catalyst (very very grr re: catalyst).

And finally uninstalled / reinstalled (with successful reboots between), and it "cough" seems to be working, but I don't trust it.

Is there any 3rd party ati drivers for the hd2400 series laptop integrated video?

I've searched omega drivers, no luck.

Can anyone try helping me please?

If you are using an amd athlon 64 .4400.x2 dual core processor
the driver should be available from the manufacturer of
your computer home page;- dell / toshiba /sanyo/ hp / etc - log your details :- model & number

check your computers drivers
check chipset

amd driver / download / install/

restart your computer

then your problem will be resolved

Sorry for late reply, Don't know where this "vpu" recover is, because it automatically does recover.

http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers...ver-crash.html <-- Following up on there also, still no resolve
