How the hell do you think I dodged the texters in the first place, stupid? If I wasn't paying attention, the first one would have taken my little Nissan(Before I had my F150, I had a 200SX. Weighed all of 10 pounds, it did) and thrown it into a church lobby with his Escalade! And don't make me count all the minivans I've had to dodge in both the Nissan and F150 that have had cell phones up on the wheel, where I could almost read the message they were typing(IF I weren't trying to dodge them, that is).

you keep thinking i'm going to crash, or have someone else crash into me. are you nostrodamus now? i've avoided more retarded people by being alert on the road. i was on jury duty about a month ago and the criminalist who testified said that the FBI or somebody did a study and found that you do something like 9000 different things while driving. while i don't know the validity of that, i do know that you're already multitasking while driving and if you're eyes are on the road and you're concious of your surroundings, you can add one more thing to that multi-tasking without making it a hazard. no matter what some law says.
On the first paragraph, well said.

On the second, well said again--mostly. I do believe there are some people that won't be able to do anything else, because they can't drive properly in the first place. If we had stricter driver testing here in the US like they do in the UK (and the rest of Europe), we'd have safer roads with more competent drivers.

Alas, that's asking too much, I think.

Idle threat idly noted. ...and reported.

Thanks for the constructive criticism Test, I really think this conversation is going places.

I actually don't like texting much either...it's 10x easier and quicker just to make the call. However, a lot of people these days prefer to text (perhaps for the reason you so boldly outlined) and won't pick up the phone when you do call.

You don't dodge 'tards by not paying attention. You get hit by them when you don't pay attention. Use some damn common sense, here.

And stay off my road if you insist on texting. I don't want to dodge any more, you might get lucky and be the one texter I decide to ram in the driver's door! Win my lottery, I dare you...
keep calling people names, that will get you far in life.

and people in minivans are just plain bad drivers. these are the same people who use only their brakes when merging on to a freeway. and most of them are old/handicapped that dont' know the correct way to use a blinker and just use their hazards because the don't know which way they're going.

yes, we need alot stricter driving tests. we also need them regularly, like every 4 years when you get your DL renewed, because there's alot of people who can't drive correctly w/o any distractions and these same people are the ones who are trying to spear TestE in his celica while texting him.

and i don't like to talk on the phone, mainly because i'd rather talk in person and also because (cell) phones aren't reliable enought to hold a conversation with somebody. that's why i text... the message always gets through - for me.

To be honest, I'd be a little miffed if I had to take a new drivers test every time I renewed my license...though...it would be better for everyone on the road. Do they have to do that in Europe (any of you over-sees members have personal experience?).

As for talking in person...same.

On a side note:
The phone companies have actually lowered the quality of our calls as much as possible. One of my professors told me (yeah...I heard from another party...I'm fairly certain that this individual is credible, though) that they (the phone companies) do this so they can get more calls through. They pretty much lowered it to the point that most people will just be able to get the information that is needed...and they expect the users head to do the rest of the work putting the garbled signal together.

oh, i believe it. it's all about money with everybody. they can't just put out a good product or service, they have to put the least amount of effort to get the most amount of profit. it's a sad world.

and then when the economy goes in the pooper, they're like "oh i think we made enough money off these mules, let's lower gas prices to about 35-45% of the highest and let 'em think we care"

There's actually a whole story behind the gas prices. I think consumption dropped by half and some investors bailed out. I'm not 100% sure on the explanation, so I won't try to butcher it, but I'm sure google can help you with it. An Econ professor at our school explained it all too my room mate...it was actually pretty messed up.

lol, well in the end they realized they couldn't charge as much as they thought and get away with it.

business is all about volume. the more you can sell at a lesser price will get you big dividends than someone who sells the same product for more money. look at walmart.

If it was idle, I wouldn't have made it. Stay the hell off the highways, or quit your god damned texting while driving. I never text while driving. If I absolutely have to text while on the road, I park and kill the engine before I even grab the damn phone. Is that too much to ask from you 'tards or do I have to ram your phone up your asses so you can see it?

But whatever. If a texter decided to play chicken with whatever vehicle I'm driving when they do it, and they lose, I'm not going to feel sorry for them, no matter how badly they get hurt. They earned it.

I was against the ban on talking on the phone while driving, I've never found myself the least bit distracted while on the phone since I always put driving first but I can definitely understand where the law's proponents were coming from, sometimes you see people who are literally all over the road.

Texting while driving should definitely be illegal though, that's something I'm totally for.

Thought that was funny. I'm sure banning cell phones in cars would have gone over great in the 1700's. (Meaning these laws were not applicable for "10's of thousands of years or more" because cell phones, and cars... and roads for that matter were not around back then.)

I'm guessing you're cool with drunk driving as well? Since not everyone who drives drunk crashes. The number one cause of death of people under 30 is car accidents. I was on www.mydeathspace.com and it was interesting the ratio of car accident deaths to everything else.

Driving while talking on your cell phone is as bad as driving drunk.

Driving while texting is twice as bad as talking on your cell phone.

Maybe you should petition to have laws made specially for you since you are so awesome on the road.
