it's not about the texting. but almost every single one of you is too dense to see that.
why is there a law that says you can't hold a phone in your hand and drive at the same time? because a few morons got into a wreck cuz they were too busy talking and not busy enough driving.
oh but wait, you can still talk and drive... so long as you buy a piece of equipment. guess what, the underlying problem still exists - people aren't paying attention to driving. everyone of you who can't differentiate that is a flipping moron.
passing laws like this DO NOT make the roads safer. don't kid yourself or anyone else. if the action doesn't affect the drivers ability to operate a motor vehicle safely, then nothing should happen to that driver.

I'm guessing you're cool with drunk driving as well? Since not everyone who drives drunk crashes. The number one cause of death of people under 30 is car accidents. I was on www.mydeathspace.com
and it was interesting the ratio of car accident deaths to everything else.
Driving while talking on your cell phone is as bad as driving drunk.
Driving while texting is twice as bad as talking on your cell phone.
Maybe you should petition to have laws made specially for you since you are so awesome on the road.
obviously you can't grasp simple ideas, so let me help you out. i wasn't talking about a cell phone or texting law for thousands of years ago, but i can see how you thought that since you're a moron.
for you to quantify how bad something is without figures just proves how much of a moron you actually are. maybe i really should start a petition to abort fetus' like you before you're allowed to infect the rest of the world.
and you're damn right i don't agree with DUI laws. just like i don't agree with hate crime laws. just because you can get into a wreck doesn't mean you will. a person could get pulled over because his light over his license plate is out (because somehow that's an issue when a cops headlights are shining on your license plate
) and get arrested for a DUI. the cop could have been following him for miles and not noticed any signs of that person driving out of the norm, but just because of a faulty light that person has to spend thousands of dollars and do months of the most retarded schooling ever imagined. when any other person who was 0.01% less (assuming the 1st person was at the legal limit) or had not been drinking would have simply gotten a fix-it ticket. that's so horribly unfair.
people go out and get into wrecks everyday w/o any of the modifiers that are "against the law". do you idiots really need a law in place to tell you how not to get into a wreck?

If you dont like the law, then cry harder, please.
This entire country needs a law similar to this, but I dont think that one should be pulled over for suspicion of texting unless the driver is dumb enough to hold said phone on the steering wheel. I dont know about everyone else here, but my main concern while driving isnt keeping in touch with my friends, its getting from A to B safely. Passing laws like this make the roads safer, so you can shove your "but OH-EM-GEE, I can text while driving and not wreck!!" into the same place you keep your common sense.
EDIT: just thought that I'd add that I'm 18 with one speeding ticket and no accidents. My friends even say I take driving "too seriously" when they have upwards of 5 tickets and two or three wrecks each. Time for a change?
i never said i didn't take driving seriously. everyone just likes to assume what i do. like your accusation that "people like me" get into wrecks. since you've failed to read my previous posts, let me enlighten you... i haven't gotten into any
wrecks in 14 years of driving.
tell you all what, the day that i get into a wreck that's my fault, i'll post it up here for everyone to make fun of me. but until that day comes, how about you realize that laws don't make people safer, men with guns do.
