Upgrade suggestions?

Thread Starter
I have a $140 budget, what do you think would be the next best upgrade? (i can save more if need be, that's just my budget for now)
I'm not sure if i should save more and get a new CPU or just buy a new motherboard (no pci-e 2.0 support, not the greatest for overclocking, only 8x mode in SLI)
i do plan on going SLI at some point. but if i do, i will also need a new PSU (i don't think a 750w will cut it, and it has no 8-pins)
maybe water cooling?
any other suggestions are welcome.

get a new mobo. The 650i is pretty terrible. You can get a evga 750i ftw mobo and it should do you up proper and make better use of your gpu

750w would do SLI. But i would say probably save enough for a new motherboard, and down the road grab another 280. The E6750 can hold it's own for awhile yet

maybe it can do sli, but i don't have enough 8-pin connectors. i have 4 6-pins, two of must be free to use an adapter to make an 8-pin. so for two gtx 280's i need 6 6-pins. unless there is another adapter i can use, that is... but i hear adapters don't always give the card the power it needs? another question i would love to have answered

you might be able to do sli, but you would be choking another gtx280 to pci-e x8 instead of pci-e x16 2.0. Get a new mobo first. then possibly a new PSU before getting a second gpu.

Yeah, the motherboard would be the best option. now arises the question of how to configure my psu to accept another gtx 280. is 750watt enough? and how can i connect it with my lack of 8-pin connectors?

I actually wouldn't upgrade anything yet. That PSU should power 2 GTX280's fine. Depends on the model, as some Rosewills are flaky.
Get a sound card if you listen to music
I really don't see why your still upgrading.

okay, i suppose a new motherboard will do for now.

definitely get a 750i ftw. then eventually get a new psu because I never have trusted Rosewill stuff. The e6750 is pretty good, but that would be a good idea to upgrade.

I would just save the cash. a new MB is going to do nothing for you at this time.
if u do get another 280 get a MB then. plus by then a 750 will prob. cost less.
