Low cost watercooling thats capable.

Thread Starter
Well, Santa was generous this year and as an addition to the mod comp case i'd like to use some money to fit it with watercooling. My budget is £120 or ~$200.

I'm uk based so thats where the stuff will be coming from

So far I have specced up this loop:

RAD:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Alpha...-Oem-Brown-box)

FANS:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/120mm...Fan-Controller (already have one of these)

CPU BLOCK:
http://www.aqua-pcs.co.uk/flow-perfo...lock-718-p.asp

TUBING/BARBS:
http://www.aqua-pcs.co.uk/xspc-716-i...ack-1748-p.asp
http://www.aqua-pcs.co.uk/xspc-12-barb-1845-p.asp

PUMP- this is my main sticking point. One of my friends friends supposedly has an ehiem pump he *might* be willing to sell off relatively cheaply. Failing that i have a budget of ~ £30 for the pump. I am willing to take decent condition second hand, as pumps seem to be the most expensive component of my loop.

RES- Hoping to either get it integrated with the pump or a tube reservoir.

What do you guys think of this loop? Will it perform well, will it handle a 9800gtx+ if i wanted to add that to the loop?

Thanks for any and all help, rep will be given for solid advice

You don't really need a reservoir. You can use a Tee line to fill and bleed. You might want to skip the reservoir and spend the money you had allocated for that to help buy a nice pump.

This would be good for a cpu only loop:

All from watercoolinguk.

If you're getting that weak pump/res combo, definitely do not get the EK Supreme. Far too much restriction for that tiny pump to handle.

The Delta V3 would be much better.
Isn't the xspc v3 cpu block cheaper than that? I remember a review of that xspc block that said it performed as well as the GTZ.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Gir beat me to the punch!!!!

The block listed by the OP looks like a clone of the xspc block. I wonder if they bought a lot of the xspc' blocks up and made acrylic tops for them, then rebranded it. Other than possible leaking issues from acrylic tops, it should perform the same. But why risk the leakage, just get the xspc version with the delrin top.

Lose the res. Not needed, get a nice new pump. Everything should come with barbs, not needed.

Thanks for your help.

The flow series blocks are basically the XSPC block base with an acrylic top and costs £20, which is a bargain considering its performance. Overclock 3d . net have a review of it.

I really want to use 1/2" barbs with 7/16" tubing for security as i lan regularly.

As far as a pump goes I may consider an ehiem station with built in reservoir from scan for £38.

I hear the xspc rads perform badly, being only single pass, so I'd rather take the dual pass one I linked to, especially if i was to add a gpu.

You need at least a dual for the Q6600 anyway.

this is a wc loop i made on watercoolingshop.com which is an english site. you could remove some stuff from this and all together it is only 30 pounds more than your budget. don't skimp on the pump.

edit: the link to the rad in your op doesn't work so we don't know what rad you're planning on getting.

That Xspc radiator is an awesome radiator for the price and it is dual pass. Granted the pump/res combo and block was a bit silly of me to suggest, to be honest I completely forgot about restriction.
