I'm not sure though. I don't really need to, I mainly use the laptop I got now (not the Acer) for stuff like checking bank records, email, browsing the web.. but I'd like to be able to do more with it.
so basically you need the the video power closer to that of a desktop.

I would lean towards the toshiba if you were limited to those laptops for the larger screen, ram expandability and its a better processor.

but maybe portability is more of a concern....... (acer is 14.1" vs 15.4")

what are the prices on these 2 models?

Not sure if I'm interested in Toshiba.
I returned my laptop.

Gear you know what, that one with a blueray and 9600m GS is not bad. Even if you don't need blueray other than CPU I don't know if I could do better. The CPU is not what I would want but not bad and BR is about a $300 value. I can't find better in your budget, sorry.

Whats bad about the Core 2 Duo?

Processor
# Processor Brand: Intel®Processor Type: Centrino Core™ 2 Duo processor T5800
# Processor Speed: 2.0GHz
# Bus Speed: 800MHz
# Level 2 cache: 2MB

I'm wondering if you could drop in a Q6600 or something?

Is it overclockable?

I have an Acer Aspire 5570 and I love it. It was $550 so I figured what the heck, and I was pleasantly surprised. Considering, size, weight, keyboard layout, performance, and overall look and feel, I would definitely make the purchase again.

That CPU is likely OC'able. And I believe it is the Montevina platform vs the Santa Rosa so yes CPU upgrades that will allow 1066Mhz FSB and 800Mhz memory speed. I really think you found the best deal. If I expressed differently I apologize. You have many options.

Good luck!

Paul Walls is no biggie Smalls! Just kidding I barely know those guys. But Kid Rock is the man!

LOL. I made the avatar ages ago when people had the I support Ron Paul or whatever his name is.

Would it be possible to put a Quad core CPU in it? would it suck too much power?
If its the same socket... It may work?

I can't answer that I think physically it would fit as the same socket and all. Problems? TDP that is the ability of your system to effectively cool. Next problem you might need BIOS support and if your model or anything close never had a BIOS flash may not do it.

On a personal note and my thoughts? You don't need to jump from this to a Q to get real world performance. I would only suggest a P8400 or above. The P's offer lower TDP but T's are fine also. Consider but also Kid Rock does rock!
