Wich 4850 1gb to get?

Thread Starter
Ok, I have the option of getting a 4850 card because I can't afford a $240 4870 1gb ( which I wouldn't mind).

There is this Sapphire card for 168 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102802

and a Gigabyte for 189 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125236

Then there is the 4870 512mb for 189 with rebate...I rather get a 1gb though but they are too expensive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102810

My gaming resolution will be 1680x1050 and I plan on maxing out the settings on every game possible. Including Call of duty 4, Flight simulator 10 and ArmA Assault.

Im not very good with ATI so I don't better brands or deals. My build is 1440 with the 168 saphire 4850 and I don't want to break 1500. I havn't bought anything yet either.

Thanks,
Aiden

If I were you I would get the 512mb 4870.
1680x1050 doesn't require much Memory, and for the games you listed you will get better performance.

But if you spend an extra $10 you could get an MSI GTX 260 (not core 216)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127361

EDIT: Found this if you want to compare 4870 512mb and GTX 260

4870 is faster, just get that.

Remember, just because something has more memory, it doesn't mean its faster.

The monitor I picked (Samsung t220) dosn't go above 1680x1050 and has a 2ms response time with 10,000 to 1 contrast so im fixed at that.

I was going for a 260 but the 4870 performs better in the games I play, I also play a lot of old games from 03.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will update my wishlist.

As everyone else said, go with the 4870. The 1GB wont help much unless you play at a resolution higher than 1680x1050.
