If not, second:
  • Set router to DHCP
  • Reset the modem, then reset the router. See if you get internet. If not, also try reset the router, THEN the modem

If not, third:
  • Set the router to PPPoE (you'll need your DSL information, that is the email address provided by your ISP and your password)
  • Enter the DSL PPPoE information, apply changes
  • Reset the modem, then reset the router. See if you get internet. If not, also try reset the router THEN the modem.

Playing around with these three methods gets me internet eventually. I've been using the PPPoE setting for 90 days straight now.
Thanks. I have tried a random reboot of the router and modem. I will try those listed. That should fix it. I went though the configuration and there doesn't look to be any issues with it. THis isn't the first time Ive set up a router. Thats what I do for my job.....

Well I did get a REP+ out of it, so I guess it's not a TOTAL loss.

You just never know sometimes. You could be a networking noob or an expert. Or somewhere in between. Until you said something to illustrate your experience level. THG's checklist should probably sort it.

BTW, what model of DSL modem is it?

I don't want that to get any larger! Now, how to tease a few more PPD out of my rigs...

The modem is Zhone 6211-I3-200.

For work I program routers/APs for hotels. Some of these hotels have 75-100 APs in them and all of the info is slightly different for each one, different static IP, and repeat to eachother differently. It makes me want top shoot myself when I have to do the same task that many times.

As for F@H, I have two 9800GTX+ coming. I can get a few of my friends to fold for me, though all of the latest production have been on my rigs alone. After that upgrade I don't see any upgrades for a while. I don't have any PCIe slots open, other than a single slot in my 780i. I will just try to distance my self enough that you won't catch me for a long time.

So much easier to work when I don't have to run and switch Ethernet cables to submit WUs.....

Oh, I got a soldering iron for Christmas. When I get back from vacation I'm going to have some fun. My stats should reflect it.

I think we have a possible solution.

This router seems to default its internal network to 192.168.1.1. Of course, so does the Linksys (EDIT: DD-WRT)! This means that nothing's going to work right if the Linksys WAN port is plugged into this thing (as it should be).

I would renumber one of the two devices (not both) to 192.168.2.1/255.255.255.0. Which one you renumber is up to you, but if it was my hardware I would renumber the DSL modem (hit Advanced Setup > LAN in its web interface).

Have you tried connecting the modem directly to your PC?
