Sharing a file from a MAC to Vista

Thread Starter
Can anyone help me share a folder (Folding at home) from Mac OSX 10.5.2 to vista; I want to do it so can monitor folding on the network?

I can see the Mac, I have set a user up on the Mac and I can access it through vista , however I cannot see the shared folders?

If you want to send files to Vista from the Mac, drag and drop whatever files you want in the Mac to the Mac's public folder. Then in Vista, go to Start, then go to Network, double click the Mac and you should see the files next to the "Drop Box" folder, drag those files to wherever you want in Vista. Hope that made sense.

Okay... I understand that, what I want to do is point FAHMON to the folding at home folder on the MAC so it monitors progression ECT...

If I use the Drag and drop folder I will manually have to do it every time I want to check!

Yes i am!

Try to place a shortcut of the F@H folder into the Public folder on the Mac, then tell FAHMON to monitor the F@H in the shared folder in Vista. The shortcut folder should update itself as the actual folder updates.

Thanks for the info will give that a go !

System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing: Check > Shared Folders: choose your FAH folder to be shared > Users: choose the user on your Mac account > Options: share files and folders using SMB (and make sure your Mac account name is checked).

Now when you search your Mac on your network, you should be able to connect to it using \\\\workgroup\\computer\\folder or ip.add.ress/folder or something like that. You'll be prompted for a user name and password. Enter your Mac account's username and password there. Then you should have access.
