[fud]US realises that digital might not be so good - Page 3

I can back up this claim. I live 35 miles from one of the local PBS digital towers and can't receive any of the digital broadcasts. I also live right on the edge of the largest city in the area, and my house is only a couple miles from the downtown area, so you would think that I would have no problem picking it up. Oh, and the analog signal was slightly fuzzy as well, but watchable. It's pretty sad if you ask me.

They had a digital test and alot of people complained that there anolog sets didn't work.

And you can realize that TV is a luxury and not a right and deal with not having it or find a way to fit it in your budget.

i think the way they are handling the digital conversion (at least in the first few years that people were realizing it was going to be needed) all wrong. It was a gold mine for retailers to off load their crappy HD sets saying they were "moving to HD." The problem lies with the FCC not getting the info out in the first place and people not reading up on the news.

Also, antenna is one of the best ways to get HD channels. It is way less compressed than cable and many times rivals the quality of satellite. I use satellite and antenna and i really can't complain. it's perfect. But i don't see how in my state, (east of the mountains is complete boonies, i mean over 1/2 the state is one congressional district) will be able to broadcast to everywhere and the stations not lose money.

The problem isn't the digital, the problem is the FCC and local stations, and the consumer handling the transition.
