Figured I'd start a new thread so I can get quick replys before we order tonight (if thats a problem move my post to my other thread please )

Friend is building a gaming computer. We plan on overclocking it pretty far, were gonna be running on air for NOW, but may throw it on the water cooling loop eventually (friend is scared after old system fried from water cooling)

So far this is what we are planning on ordering, but mainly we need to verify that the motherboard and ram are both going to be good for what we are doing (gaming and overclocking)

MSI R4870 Radeon HD 4870 1GB memory $235 after MIR

BIOSTAR TPower I45 Motherboard $85 open box (instead of $149 usual)

ZALMAN 110mm cooler $54

And a combo on a OCZ OCZ700MXSP 700W psu ++ E8400 wolfendale 6meg l2 cache $195 after MIR, $45 off buying seperate

We already have a case, fans, keyboard/mouse/speakers, hard drives, and cd roms.

Btw he plans on running this setup on his dual 22" lcd monitors at 1680x1050 resolution, and he eventually MIGHT upgrade to crossfire.

The board and RAM should be great for overclocking.

I think the S1283 is on par with the Zalman 9700 and cheaper, but I'd check first before you change anything.

sounds good

I wasn't sure about heat sinks (been on water for years now)

Also what about the Q9950 processor? Would it be worth it to step up to that NOW? And would our board run it?
