EDIT:this doesn't always relate to great real world performance.

Yes, i'm just saying that buying 2 hard disks for RAID0 is usually the same speed, if not slower and hotter than buying a similar single high density hard disk for the same price.

I know this from experience, i came from a RAID0 setup myself and learned the lesson. I'm not against it in anyway

Glad you like it!! I think i'm going to raid a couple of 160gb laptop drives so i have more options on graphics cards. I'll lose almost an amp of 12 volt draw from my poor little tiny power supply. But if XP dies i will have to kill both OS's cause XP freaks out when it sees the linux ext 3 partitions and doesn't know what to do about it. But I think a hacked service pack 3 download will fix that.

Then I can mess with friends minds. Why is your hard drive so fast?
Cause laptop drives are faster when you run them on bigger batteries.

I wanted twice the hard drive speed, twice the cpu and twice the graphics on half the power as my old system. Think I'll have to settle for 4 times the graphics on about 20 watts less power though cause nobody but S3 is high metal gating gpu's and their driver support isn't there yet. I can't find a combo that I can declock or just drop voltages with bios editor to make it. Devoltaging cpu and ramping memory 20 percent benches 18 percent slower but has no "real world" impact. Since I'm on battery and never have to worry about power flickers I can just go minimum working voltage at clock +.1 volt.

I guess I'll just have to be a butthead and buy a card and if I devoltage too much with a set clock speed to make the card unworkable I can just return it within 30 days and play dumb. The only thing stopping me on graphics right now is the dread of finding something that would fit perfectly and not having the available voltage settings to even play with without modding it.

I miss my 7600GS benching 4th in the world compared to similar systems but I don't miss the howling 120 and 92 mm fans. I'll have some kind of decent graphics sooner or later.
