because it's the idea behind it. the idea that the government knows what's best for all of it's citizens.

not only that, but the fact that people don't publicize "black market" deals on a static website - unless your a fed trap. it's the same reason why people won't frequent a crack house if they know the law is watching.

also, there are several work arounds... VPN, proxies and such.

i mean sure, it's not good for things like "how to make a suit-case nuke" to be available to someone who would use it for dastardly deeds. but at the same time, you don't know which individuals are going to use that information for good or bad.

i guess the short solution would be to just stop inventing things and take away all written knowledge and we could go back to spoken word only.

Blocking these sites is fine with most but what people (including myself) are worried about is how it impacts on our freedom as Australian Residents. The fact that you one of the projected 21,545,162 people who live in this country are not affected by this does not make it right to block out, its all about freedom.

The Americans aren't lucky to have free speech, that is their right even if some other countries such as China and North Korea are in such bad leadership that they do not possess that right as well. Those countries just happening to be under internet censorship by the way . Also the fact that this could slow down our already behind internet is going to p*** a lot of people off which will take our country back just one most step, the one step we need in the other direction as countries in Europe and America soar well above us in internet speeds and technology.

If it is was happening to America then the media would blow it up just like ours has. The only thing I know that America has even close to this is the proposed taxing of New York citizens with iTunes downloads. Don't make statements like that without proof or you will look like an idiot.
