[PCMag] Sony: UMD Games, Next-Gen PSP Is Dead - Page 3

I forsee the PSP2 having an internal Flash HDD. It makes sense now that they are pushing for digital distrib. It would make access times faster and everything faster. More room for more memory and cpu.

The PSP2 should own.

Might as well add blu-ray to that list - Its flawless but it hasn't made any significant ground since HD DVD died. The economy, digital distribution, DVD up-scalers and expensive BD players are all obstacles!

without UMD, the PSP could have been as skinny as an iPod classic.

Actually, it has. As the sales of HDTVs worldwide increase, so too will the sale of bluray players.

The economy is what it is. Digital distribution is only so good - and I imagine most people would prefer to have a physical disc. People in America don't have the bandwidth to stream true HD quality video and audio, and they won't have it anytime soon at any affordable price. And waiting to download an HD video takes quite a while. Nothing like having to wait for your movie to buffer every 30 seconds just so you can enjoy it.

Bluray players are DVD upscalers, and players really aren't THAT expensive anymore.

I for one believe bluray to be sticking around for a long time to come.
