I always used to lag while recording in Fraps with my old 8Mb 250Gb WD.

Now that I have the 750Gb AALS, it doesn't lag at all.
I have a wierd Raid 0 setup.. 320GB 16MB Cache + 500GB 32MB Cache
I know it isn't the best option but for me to buy another 320GB it would cost more than the 500GB here.

I have the same problem, and not just on my main rig. No matter the FPS, resolution, sound, or any option, it still lags like mad. For example - LFS, at 640x480, no matter the Fraps settings, will always record at 5-10 FPS. no matter what hard drive I'm recording to, no matter if I change any settings. Same on my old computer.

Get a newer version of FRAPS

Use a faster HDD

Use Half Size recording

Set recording FPS to roughly what you get in game (In other words dont set it to 60 if you never get more than 45, set it to 40)

Different video drivers could also affect this

First off, i'd like to say fraps DOES NOT LAG because of your computer... i have a hp 8gb ram, 1gb graphics card at 9800x
750gb hardrive my graphics card runs full 1080p, so does my moniter.

I have found a solution... i just changed my game graphics settings to 720p
(1280x 720)
Then i ran fraps at 50fps no more lag...
Hope this helps,

Thanks.

I found another solution
Fraps lagged if it tried to watch more than one application at the same time.
For example, if I had lauched video player or Valve Hammer World Editor (fraps detects them) and tried to record video in a game, I've got a load of lags.
I closed all graphics application and lags dissapeared
