[GS]MGS4 GoTY - Page 3

Well, it would get my vote for sure. I remember when i got it, stayed up all night because i couldn't stop playing. I wasn't even tired when i went to sleep at 6am, lol.

Just in my personal opinion, MGS4 is much more deserving than Fallout 3. Don't get me wrong I thought Fallout 3 to be a good game overall but it didn't manage to keep me playing well into the night on the edge of my chair like MGS4 did. In comparison I found Fallout to be bland and uninteresting.

I did that massive rant because he said it wouldn't get his vote due to the multiplayer. Earlier today I just got finished ranting to someone else who made a similar comment about Deadspace. And Christmas Eve too.

It's why games are degrading in singleplayer content and quality. I garuntee thats the number one reason - because devs are learning the hard way that for some reason this generation of people with gaming don't have a heart for singleplayer games. And if it keeps up - we'll all be soon infected with countless numbers of video games with trends like Halo (first had a great story, 2nd so-so, 3rd was flat) but with like a 2 hour singleplayer and the rest multiplayer.

lol its all good man, i agree was just pokin fun, i love how worked up you get when you're passionate about something

and to the bolded bit, the infection has already begun.

Cutscene? What? So you think movies are just cutscenes? What are TV shows in your opinion - commercials? What are commercials then? xD
I was just saying that because, well the cutscenes are very long and there are lots of them.

I have played it start to finish and was completely blown away by it. One of the best games I have played this year and it completely deserves this title from GS. I was just fooling around .

I played it and thought it was meh. I can understand why people love it and why it won game of the year but I wouldn't have voted for it. Maybe it's because I hadn't paid attention to the story of the games prior and fell into a sea of confusion but I just wasn't compelled. I thought the controls were a little clunky to but it's a stealth/action/not so much stealth as action now game so I guess that's bound to happen. Maybe I'll play through the old ones again before picking this back up, hopefully that will keep me interested.

Wonderfully executed game, just not my bag of chips I suppose. I personally couldn't stand having to sit through the dialouge when the story is so convoluted. Playing the game began to feel more like a chore and less like a game.

As far as the whole "people only want multiplayer these days" discussion, it really only applies to fps's. If it's an fps I'm buying it for the multiplayer, not the story. Playing through the story once or twice will completely diminish replayability for me so I sort of depend on the multiplayer. The stories are almost always the same, wether it be killing terrorists or winning WWII over and over and over and over and over again. It's like Bioshock, the single-player was amazing but only once or twice and then I never touched it again.

And halo....I always had a festering hate towards the series so I'll leave it at this; The Halo trilogy is wonderfully bland and entirely average on all fronts.

Congrats to MGS4 fans though, well deserved (I guess).

while i only played it through twice, and never got into metal gear online so much, I can totally agree with their decision on this award. probably the most polished game this generation so far.

Subsistence online was excellent. I remember skipping classes for a week just to play that thing, and reaching #1 for the week was pretty cool. Lots of fun gameplay to be had...especially playing as Snake, going cloaked into a crowd and terrorizing them one by one.
