Great replies mates!

Yea I guess it's hold off on a known good stepping (used here or eBay) or save and grab another 2gb of these G.SKILL HZ's..

Always behind the curve per se as of late and this sig rig, built new in 05/07 so nearly 2 years now other than the video upgrade.

Thanks to all and got my eyes peeled for a Q6600 here

See this is what you are looking for on ebay, u can grab a Q6600 like these with low vids of 1.225 from 07, in the darker blue boxes those are the solid overclockers and the one that I had that went to 3.6ghz with ease. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Retail-Intel...3%3A1|294%3A50

Chances are you'll get one with a high VID though
post #17 of 21
The new Q6600 has a beveled edge as well which some people have complained about not making as good a contact with the cooler. They're almost always 1.325 VID as well nowadays.

Ahh I just listed a guaranteed low vid q6600, 2 of them at 1.2 vid. That is why u want to use ebay so u know what u are getting, those are from 07, dark blue box, those are the ones u want so u do get low vid and a good overclocker not the high vid, worse overclocker, even though my q6600 was 1.35 vid, I still got it to 3.6ghz on air with 1.45 vcore.
