Geforce Driver Problems

yo peeps i recenty made a gaming rig and i purchased a gigabyte geforce 9800gtx+ 1gb. it seems to be a good card but i cant seem to upgrade the driver in it. i can only use the driver included with the box. i cant upgrade to latest drivers from nvidia. when i try to install latest drivers the screen locks up and becomes black. i try to restart the machine the screen is black. i had to go safe mode and rollback to old version and ive read in other forums lots of people are having the same problem. why is gigabyte ignoring this problem? anyone else has this problem?

So what's the problem, why can''t you update the driver, what's happening when you try?

btw it's not gigabytes problem, they don't make the drivers Nvidia do.

EDIT: So have you tried this? Uninstall your current display drivers from within add/remove programs, reboot into safe mode and run driver sweeper to remove any traces of the driver which are left over, reboot and install the latest drivers for your card from the nvidia site..
