Help With New Budget Build!

Thread Starter
alright my brother is coming from a 6200, 2gb ddr, 80gb hdd, cely D 2.8 and wants to upgrade. this is the build ive come up with. i already have a dvd burner mouse, keyboard, and monitor (19" lcd, 1440x900)

antec sanata III $100 (comes with 500w PSU)

samsung spinpoint F1 750GB $75 (i really like the 32mb cache, WDs drive with 32mb cache is $15 more and i think they will be similar)

4GB kingston DDR2 800 w/ heat spreaders $37

foxconn G31 $42

E5200+3850 512mb $138 ($123 after a mir)

shipping $11

total $403 (before the $15 mir)

now about the video card, i think itll be a nice card and seeing how its only $55 (and only $40 after mir) i think its a great deal (major upgrade from 6200 lol)
suggestions?

Basically, you want a gaming rig for about $400?

32mb cache doesn't really matter. However, 10GB per $1 is good price.
Once again...

That E5200 is a little overclocking beast! Can reach over 3.2Ghz without much tweaking.

Other than that, looks like a nice budget upgrade!

No worries, you can still overclock the E5200 - you just wont be able to really push the voltage up - the stock HSF is not very efficient for removing a lot of extra heat.

Not sure but i'm betting they're different

the Q6600 is build on 65nm tech and the E5200 on 45nm tech so they may have different heat sinks.

Yeah use the Q6600 stock one though. Should be a little better.
Also I would get a newer chipset motherboard...for the price idk what can beat it though. Does that board overclock well?
