Quick noob question on mixing ram in my setup

Thread Starter
Hello,

Just a bit of background info; my father bought me windows vista 64 bit for Christmas this year for my budget rig, and he also surprised me with 4 more gigs (2x2g) of ram as a belated Christmas present.

Before I go ahead and install the ram, I just wanted to make sure that there would be no disputes with my setup already.

Here is what I am using at the moment:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104061
2 x 2g (4 total) with 7-7-7-20 timing.

This is what my dad bought and haven't installed yet
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227298
2 x 2g (4 total) with 5-5-5-18 timing.

Ram will be paired with this mobo

I just wanted to make sure that installing this new ram won't be counter productive. I know this is a really noob question so I appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Drew

It will run at the slower clock cycles I think.

I was talking about running both rams in conjunction with one another. So 8 gigs total.

It will just run at the slower clock cycles, which wouldn't even be noticeable.
Wouldn't affect your CPU overclocking capabilities either.

Go ahead and install it.

Yeah, the mobo will automatically dumb itself down to support the lowest speed but with 8gigs you wont lost much ha ha!
