Hey guys, first post.
I picked up Q9650 + Striker II Formula a while back before school started to replace my aging Q6700 @ 3.33GHz and EVGA nForce 680i SLI A1. So after coming back for my vacation, I find out that Striker II can't overclock at all!!! Only reason why I picked up a 780i board was because I already had 2x GTX 280s so I needed the SLI (I knew nvidia chipsets suck for quad core overclocking but I didn't believe it would be this bad/complicated!)
Anyway, on to the main point, maybe you guys can help me... I can't even get it stable @ 3.6GHz/1600MHz FSB synced 800MHz on memory) with these settings,
Bridge Core: Auto
CPU GTL Reference: Auto
MB GTL Reference: Auto
and auto on the DDR Reference voltages
At first, since this was a Nvidia board, I enabled EPP for my Dominators to get 1066MHz with 5-5-5-15-2T @ 2.1v. When I tried to overclock with EPP enabled, I would always get BSODs at the Vista loading screen, so I lowered it back to 800MHz with 4-4-4-12-2T @ 1.9v thinking that maybe the NB couldn't handle higher FSB with 4GB 1066MHz memory. I can finally get into Vista but once I try to run Intel Burn Test or Prime95, my PC would restart within 10 seconds. I'm no newb when it comes to overclocking but I'm about to throw this board out the window!! Please help guys!!
CPU VID is 1.25 if it helps.Edited by Clairvoyant129 - 4/7/09 at 12:54pm
