How on earth is my chip so damn hot with such low voltages, lol. I think my case may have some airflow bottleneck. I noticed yesterday, I started my Prime95 smallFFT run, at 1.26V for 4ghz, and it was okay at first. 63-65 on highest pair, 57 on lowest... Left it be for 12 hours, with same ambient temps, it went up to 71C. I think I need to do some fan grill cutting, and check where the airflow's being bottlenecked in my case... It seems to be accumulating heat too much over time.

That's what I think at least, because everyone seems to be out of luck when it comes to their chip, because voltage is limiting their OC, not heat. I have the complete opposite. 1.26V for 4ghz is neat, but I can go a whole 0.1V more to get better clocks. I'd love to hit that. Perhaps I applied too much TIM as well, which ends up creating an insulating barrier. Thoughts? I don't feel like re-seating until I lap it, though.

I've noticed Thanks for the input, although I did have it up to 3.82 with minimal increase in Vcore...+.050, so it went to 1.32v after vDroop. Temps were quite high so I'm just gonna leave it at 3.6, for now

Someone please help me undervolt this CPU cause I know it doesn't take that much to hit 3.0GHZ.....temps are 40ºC Idle....this is why I'm a little concerned.
I can post a screen shot of my BIOS if you want.

Maybe you can change all those AUTO settings (which I dislike cos I can't see how much the volts actually are) and put them to normal or manual and lower your cpu/mch voltages. I think you should try lowering the Vcore to 1.25volts if you're at 3 Ghz.

I've read that overclocks have been stable at voltages below the factory set VID.

I know my BIOS initially put my Q9650 at 1.18V or something like that at 3ghz and it was stable. I didn't try lowering, though.

How annoying, just failed my blend test after 8 hours and a half. An improvement, but it doesn't make me very happy! haha.

They have, but I don't have any options when it comes to Lowering voltages....I can only increase from stock (1.30VID)

Ok guys, New CPU-Z validation in my sig.

4.0GHZ 445FSB x 9
VID = 1.30
Vcore = 1.325
Batch = ???

Attempting to stabilize now at 3.82ghz!

Did you stress that, or just boot-up validate?
