Design my Gaming P.C./give feedback

Thread Starter
I am brand spankin' new to OC and this will be my very first build.

The budget for this P.C. will be roughly $2,500 for the entire rig, plus monitor, keyboard, speakers etc. I have no parts to recycle.

I've decided to use Intel processors and Nvidia for my Graphics card. I would prefer quad core over duo so that I can take advantage of the new technology on the horizon. Should I use SLI and can I afford to with my budget? What size monitor/resolution would I need? I really need good recommendations on what power supply/cooling system would be needed.

Blu-ray player/dvd burner would be sweet to include. I also have this TV: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN40A6...1005039&sr=8-2
I would love to stream video from my computer to this TV. I also have an Xbox360, and I know I can stream through that, but I would rather have it go directly from the computer to the TV.

The system also needs a wireless adapter, my alienware (purchased 3 years ago) did not come with one so I figured I would mention it.

I am really excited for SC2/D3. I haven't played many other games as I've been playing xbox, but I will probably be playing crysis and other grpahics demanding games as they come out.

Thank you all for your help.

A 22 or a 24 would be sufficient. I'm again really new to this whole thing, but I heard something about 30" and SLI showing a clear difference versus a single card being fine for a smaller monitor.

The speakers would be fine at 2.1 I think. Would it be easy to upgrade?

Thanks!

Thank you for the response, when are the GTX 295 cards coming out?

If your going 2.1, I recommend a Logitech Z2300,
Keyboard - Logitech G15 rev. 2 Gaming keyboard, that is unless you hate orange
Mouse - Logitech G5, or Razer Deathadder (Righties only), or Razer Lachesis
Maybe an Xbox 360 controller if you play racing games and games with horrible keyboard and mouse support

Monitor - Samsung 2253BW, 22 inch or 24 inch

If you cannot wait for the GTX 295, HD4850 X2

Wireless adapter LINKSYS WMP54GS IEEE 802.11b/g

Going directly to the TV will be easy with a DVI to HDMI adapter

Intel Core i7 920 (940 is waste of money for that extra 0.3Ghz)
Motherboard: EVGA X58
RAM: 6GB DDR-1333 or 1600 Triple Channel (two 3GB kits)
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V
Sound: X-fi titanium
Hard Drive: WD Black 750GB 32MB Cache x4 In raid 0 (the speed will be ridiculous)
GPU- wait for gtx 295 or get 4870x2

This is what I have come up with. Feel free to criticize. I decided not to do the RAID HD's as it seems like a pain in the ass. However, I am open to suggestions as to why I should use RAID. I'm going to use the stock soundcard as well. I have headphones, so no speakers.

So far it looks good, I would recommend vista 64 home premium instead of ultimate though.
That mobo is great too, you can add a second or even third video card later on if you want.
