The 55nm GTX 260 216 Overclock Thread - Page 70

As I have an Intel MB and can't SLI I am sad to say that I leaving my 260 behind

The thing OC'd like a dream, over the last week after what I can only assume "burn in time" I can keep it stable @ 750/1606/1100 (2+ hours in Crysis, didn't run Furmark/ATI Tool tho). Cheers GeForce for helping my get there

To have SLI'd 2 of these would've been ideal. Beast.

I'll post some screens up so before I change. I belive you need GPUz screen ja? Anything else, just let me know.

Big THANKYOU for the support when I first landed guys, whoop!

yes, shader is king on Nvidia cards

and you can't do 1300 shader on 700 core, since 1300 isn't 2x700

what were your shaders at when you tried 680 core?

I've now got 691/1458/1152 BIOS modded to my board. Incredibly stable!! I coulnd't get these speds stable until I gave it a voltage boost via BIOS. It is very easy to do and after some reserach, I realized that all the black edition of the XFX I have is a board with the voltage ramped up to 1.18v. So I upped mine to 1.18 and couldnt be happier. I'v gotten it to go 729/1458/1161, but cant go much farher cause my shaders dont want to budge. Maybe after some "burn in" time, they might go a little higher. Temps NEVER exceed mid 50s, with most games making the card push 50.

I love this card. I now have a superclocked black edition for the same price as a vanilla. Dont be afraid of the BIOS mod. It works like a charm and is so safe that XFX is doing it to Core 216 cards and selling them for a markup.

Hmm, I wonder if I could squeeze a little more out of my card with the XFX bios Max voltage with the EVGA SSC bios is 1.12v... Someone want to give it a go?

Simmy, your core/shaders are linked right? Try unlinking them and you may be able to get a little higher.
No, they aren't linked. The 729/1458 is the max I can go on my core because that is exactly half of 1458. And my shaders will not remain stable above that. I think I can go higher on the mem. I just modded the board with my most stable and productive clocks. I know I can go up to the core/chader listed above, and I'm still working on the memory. Right now I am around 1200 with ilittle problems. I wonder if puting these clocks on the board makes higher OCs more stable?

I bet your card can handle at least a little more volts, and is nothing else, it will get your current max clocks a little more stable.

Picked up this card late last week:

Currently running it at:

702 core
1440 shader
1161 memory

Both Furmark, ATI Tool and Crysis stable.

Performance at 1080p is unbelievable for a £150 card.

All the hot air seems to come out that slit in the side, so I added an 80mm fan to the side vent and now nearly all the hot air is pumped straight out of my case. Furmark is the only thing that makes the fan rev up at all. Which means even in games that can't be heard over my case fans.

Yeah great price on those, I plan on buying one if my 260 doesn't sell Let me know how well it does if you OC it any further, If it isn't to much trouble could you check the voltage too?

I gust got a GTX420 prototype... I got it running at a million core, billion shaderz and trillion quadrillion memory (DDR1000).... I is swearz!

but I gotz a pentium 2.0 and get only 2000 points on 2Dmark '89

How would I check that?

I've had the card running higher but I like to make sure its super, super stable so I tend to err on the side of caution.

I had the memory all the way up to 1300mhz at one point and that actually coped fine in game but it would throw up artifacts in ATI tool straight away. 1160 is the highest I can take the memory without it ever artifacting in ATI tool so I left it at that, its still a very significant jump over stock.

The core and shaders fail Furmark's Xtreme burning benchmark after about 10 minutes at anything above there current settings but again, they cope just fine with anything else, including ATI Tool.

I'll try and find out what my max is for Crysis/Vantage and ATI Tool stable is because no game even comes close to stressing the GPU as much as Furmark extreme burn.
