Anyone ever been RMA rejected? (EVGA motherboard)

Thread Starter
Alright so some of you know I recently bought a evga 750I ftw and got it DOA with memory errors and what not.

I sent it in for RMA, and I check my email this afternoon and read that my RMA has been rejected due to "Bent Pins"...

Ok so im assuming this means CPU pins? My CPU sure fit nicely in there with no problems and gave me no error codes but the ram errors. So I called EVGA RMA customer support, and the dude was like oh yeah we cant do to much its gonan cost $50 to repair the pins and send you a replacement............. NO? Im not paying 50 bucks on top of the 170 i already payed just to get the same thing I wanted to have working when I first received it.... EVGA as far as motherboards go right now are really going to the top of my hate list.

So has anyone been rejected by EVGA for a motherboard RMA with this same type of ordeal? if so, what did you to to overcome it? i know GOOD and well they were not bent when I received it, or bent when I sent it in... So why shoudl I pay for something thats not true that I already payed 170 bucks for... I should have stayed with a brand I already knew I could trust, instead I switched it up now im going through nothing but trouble. I got a GTX 280 and a 1000HX and a Q9550 all being shipped to me right now scheduled to be here wednesday and thursday but no decent motherboard to use it with, thats the whole reason I bought it in the first place, to use it right?

Anyone got any helpful advice on what I can do? RMA department is closed right now so I really cant speak with anyone firsthand at this time thats why Im posting here.

Thanks alot for any one offering advice/comments/help.
Meh.

When you returned the board, did you make sure the CPU socket cover was in place? If not, that is the one reason manufacturers will make you pay for bent pins.

I sent the motherboard in completely bare, in the hard plastic case that goes inside the evga box, packed nicely and snug making sure it wouldnt get damaged in shipping, with the socket cover in place over the LGA775 socket.

They didnt elaborate at ALL on the bent pins in the descript. This is a exact quote from my email.

Ask them to send you a picture of the damage.

Did you cover the socket when you shipped?

call back
maybe you can get a different service rep.
that could make a world of difference
and if they are not compliant, ask for their manager in a commanding tone.
infact, demand a manager, then demand a replacement, at no cost to you.
because you shouldn't have to pay for their faulty hardware.

Yes the socket cover was in place. Ill probably have to wait till tomorrow to talk to the RMA department since they closed a hour before I got home to check the RMA status.

Might do that, a manager in the customer service dept. should be able to help me just as much as the RMA dept. I would think.

Id ask them for pictures and ask them why you would buy a board and just bend the pins. Tell them you are experienced with this sort of thing and would not bend the pins, and if you did you would fess up to your errors because you dishonest. You are strictly looking for professional courtesy because their product was not up to the standards they had described. Trying to muddy the waters with the bent pin situation still does not change the fact they you bought a faulty product. Honestly, if I bent pins I would tell them. They would notice when they got it anyways, so there is no use in lying to them. That and they couldnt pull this nonsense later. I would just be polite in the rudest way possible and do it via voice so you get the answers and respect you deserve. 150+ dollars is alot to spend on a product you cant even use. I love EVGA and have never had an issue, but that is ridiculous.

Ok I called em back today and they said "Yeah it had bent CPU Socket pins when we received it and that is a $60 charge"

DUDE...... EVGA can seriously go to hell, I put my CPU in it 5-10 times overall reseating it, it seated perfectly fine, and works perfectly fine in my other board after putting it in the 750I so I know the CPU is still fine, and it seated the same on both motherboards, I always look at the pins when I buy a motherboard to make sure and they were deffinetly not bent. I am NOT paying $60 because they say they're bent either. I really dk what to do about it, I guess I should have never ordered from provantage so I could have newegg rma'd and probably been perfectly fine this whole time...Or I guess I shouldnt have changed companys to something I had no prior experience with... Oh yeah sure evga ill pay that $60! A $245 750I FTW sounds great (After purchase, RMA fee, and shipping to RMA)

NO.

Will provantage accept the motherboard back for a refund or replacement even with the bent pins? I mean the fedex box I received was beat to hell but theyll prolly give me problems about me accepting the package in the first place since it looked beat up, the motherbaord box/motherboard was fine though.

Words probably couldnt express how mad I am, so im just trying to type like its fine lol
