Heres what I bought:

EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

OCZ XMP Ready Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor

EVGA 01G-P3-N880-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

LIAN LI PC-A17B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

with the thermalright 120-extreme aluminum 1366 compatible heatsink and AC-MX2 thermal grease.

-----------------------------------------------

NOW THE PICS

A little slow on the uptake here, but my GEARS have arrived! (2 weeks ago, ima bad photographer)

Gotta hook it up immediatly, even though my true has not arriced.

But, does a PSU much to large for my Lian Li case make it a win or a fail? im leaning towards win.

ANd now another week in, my TRUE HAS ARRIVED. Took a week longer than newegg took to deliver a computer. Kinda pathetic.

I'm going to lap this. My first lap! Good thing I have a helper-- a world-authority on the quality of laps.

Hey kitty cat, look how uneven my true was, hey... wake up sleepy head... wake up wake up wake up...

Took FOR EVER at 220 grit but I finally got it done. NOTE: USE DUCT TAPE to affix your sandpaper to the glass... do NOT USE scotch packing tape!!!! Now, time to up the grits...

Done. And full of franziskaner

And apparently, lapping my TRUE is not an exciting endeavour.

Well i have an i7 build in the works, and it pretty much looks identical cept for the vid card and case. A few people recommended that PSU vs the antec 1kw psu that i originally had planned.

I'm a lotta spooked about the power supply actually fitting in the case, i'm worried its going to bump into the top fan; just because the power supply seems to look a little longer than standard.

Oh well, I find out thursday, and then I get to put it all together

Well, to be honest, you don't need a 1k psu. With a quad and a (potentially two) 9800gtx+ you don't need anywhere near that much. 850w is probably way more than you would ever need. I know I overkilled when I put my Silverstone 850w - which, btw, is amazing - with SLI'd 8800GTX's.

I'm well aware of the overkill on that PSU, but, well, I rationalized it by saying it wasn't much more expensive than the 850 I was looking at... and I wasn't quite sure how many more components I would buy over the next few weeks and months

I'm in the running for a pretty big research award for all my contributions to science, so that may fund a few big graphics cards and some water blocks in the not so distant future.
