Crosshair II waterblocks?

Thread Starter
I am posting this here for a couple reasons, one I wnated to see what kind of system temps others were seeing, and I want to find out which water blocks work on this motherboard for the NB and SB.

I started seeing temp issues when I moved to my cosmos case from my A900. I would get random lock ups and system shut downs. I noticed my system temps would reach as high as 55C and my CPU temps would go as high as 53C. I then replaced the thermal pads asus used on the NB and SB with AS5 with very little change to the system temps and reseated my CPU cooler which dropped those to 38C idle and 47 load. However I am still having my random lock ups and system shut downs.

Now I have been putting off going to water for quite some time, but now I think I have more a reason to than ever, but would like to do it all at once. So I would have my CPU, NB and SB on a single loop and think Swiftech H20 Kit
would do, but I need to know which blocks for the NB and SB will work.

On Petra's I find a ton of general asus blocks, and a few 680i/780i and even some 790i, but none for the 780a. thanks in advance

I am looking at replacing my case with the Thermaltake Black Kandalf LCS Full-Tower, it has what looks to be a pretty good L.C. System. The reviews seem to be pretty good. And I feel if I did have to upgrade the pump and the CPU W.B. It would still be worth the price. What do you guys think? Also because of me doing this, I am also wanting to do the N.B. & S.B. Water Blocks but am having NO LUCK finding any. I found a Zalman N.B. block on New Egg but I dunno how good that one is..?? SO IM WITH wheth4400! ANY IDEAS!?!?

today i took the system apart again... and re applied the AS5 to the SB and the NB...
when I started the comp up I was in the lower 30's C on the temp I let it run for about 20 mins temps stayed about the same, then I realized that my bios had some how been reset during that process.
I use the onboard video card to run HDMI to my vizio LCD tv so I can watch blu ray movies on my TV and I have to have it set to always on in the bios in order for it to be used as I have dedicated video cards....

When I restarted the comp this time with everything set in bios... my raid.. the onboard video the system temps jumped way up to 47C

So I guess it is safe to assume that the onboard video is adding to my system temps?

either way I still need to know which WB's I need for the NB and SB.

Crap! You weren't kidding! How is your cooling in your case? I have quite a bit of cooling going on in my machine..4 120mm fans, and two 92mm fans.. I have Three intake fans (120's) and one Exhaust 120mm and two 92mm Exhaust fans.. Which bios version are you on?

I am using all stock fans from the Cosmos 1000 it has three 120MM exhausts and only one 120 MM intake on the bottom... running with the side panel off the temps are a solid 40C on the system and 34C idle on the CPU with a load of 43C at this point I am sure it is the air flow in the case also the side panel has the thick foam sound dampening mat on it which I am sure isn't helping. I just have to figure out how to get increased airflow for the intakes but this case is very limite don mounting options for intake fans.

can you post a pic of your tower? I'll help you out.. You need to have an equal balance of air flow. I have two smaller fans and one large exhaust fan, but my two small fans flow almost twice what my 120's do on the intake side.. so I actually have more going out than in.. but better that than keeping it all in.. I had to reconfigure my fan set up three times before i found a good match with this set up..

right now my digital camera needs batteries... but Cosmos is it. I am using a Zalman 9700 with the exhaust point towards the back and I have the fan for my domminator ram going as well.
