It shouldn't - powdercoating itself is a really quick process (I believe it is THE quickest method of painting something). They're probably just really busy, so your case would need to wait awhile until they can get to it.

I thought so too Frost. But the guy was saying we have to do this in varying levels with sufficient wait time between cycles. 2 weeks is still long for me.
I just called another nearby place for the same thing and they said 30 bucks and I can pick up in 2 days. I hope they don't use some cheap crap on my case

Update on my rig:
Got the components installed and wired up, except for the Megahalems (stripped part of the mounting mechanism, replacement is in the mail). Here's a vid! (may still be processing, recommend waiting for the HD version to process)

Slick! Can't wait to see what it'll be like with that stupid stock cooler out of there.

Thanks! Yeah I HATED sticking that Intel cooler in there. I can't even do anything with it other than browse the web now, unless I want to down clock my CPU.

And that's odd you didn't get any thumbscrews with your 850 >_> I got some with my HX-1000 and the 750watt one I used in a friend's build.

woo awesome, you better do a build log! I wish I had
post #1108 of 4392
Yess I will.
I will start a new thread in the Intel Build Logs section.

At this point the only thing I'm nervous about is the TIM application. I have a 1gm syringe of Shin-Etsu. There are no instructions to go along with it.
Just not sure how much of it to use and what's the best way to spread it. I could use a credit card but mebbe I should clean the unused credit card real real good and let it dry for a while before I use it. Or mebbe get a glove or something around the finger and spread it. But what type of glove!!!!

Just put about a pea-sized drop on the center of the processor (either that or two thin parallel down the cores vertically which sometimes works better with quads)

Don't spread it. Spreading the TIM causes bubbles to form between the heatsink and CPU when it's mounted. I've done tests myself and it can effect temps.

Here's a great video which visually shows how thermal compound spreads.
