Thanks - I'm going to do that. It should work, but I wish there was an easy way to check the temps or fan speed.

As for the feet, I wonder if Home Depot might have a 1/4" thick hard rubber or even metal washer that would work. If not, I guess I can wait and see but I'm pretty sure I'll need to raise it up a bit. I'm going to pass on the wheels so looks like the only other alternative is to get a 1/4" metal drill bit and install the the over-priced MNPCTech feet. Really liking that removable motherboard tray if that happens. At least I won't have to take everything apart.

@Draygoon - where did you see pics of the prototype replacement? I'd like to check it out.

I'z pondering getting of these cases, and I'm sorry if these are answered above but the thread is pretty long, so ... I'm going to ask here

1) Is the HD bay removable like on my Sniper Storm?
2) Are the four big fans Molex or 3 pin?
3) Do any fan mounts 'natively' accept 140mm fans?
4) If I mount my Revolution PSU (note: the modular connectors stick out a ways) will there still be room for the 120mm fan in the bottom? A fan won't fit there with my PSU in the Sniper :*(
5) So ... no clear side door with fan mount available, I read a page or two back?
6) Do they, or will they ever, make this case with black interior?
7) Are the big fans the same ones that come in the Sniper? Cause I think the ones in my case now kinda suck. I mean, blow. I mean ... I don't like them.
8) What do you guys think of the Silver one? I kinda think if you're stuck w/silver interior (unless you paint, which I won't do) it might actually look nicer ...

TIA,
brett

It just makes it easier to determine at a glance from the first post from that user in the thread; if they have an image and it is theirs, I only need to see that much instead of just read through (though I'll do that, anyway).

That should work, yes.

My portable a/c is right next to where I will put the 840 and I can utilize the window mount. The AMPs are 3 slots which cause spacing problems, but they run cool and quiet for 480's. Dumping tons of hot air into the case will require some mighty airflow. I'm sure the 840 is up to it. Boredgunner's recommendation of a top mounted PSU and extra fan on the bottom will give the cards some more air. Might have to get taller feet for the 840 for more breathing room.
Sounds good. The real beauty of the ATCS is the ability to improvise without actually changing much, if anything, of the fundamental structure or features of the case; I haven't come close to exploring all the options, but I'm sure others have.

Well, something tells me the next version will be NOTHING like the current.

It is if you have a de-riveting gun.

Nope. Just clear side door, no fan mount, available.

Not this specific one, but they are working on a new ATCS; however it won't be out until (I expect) around this time next year, and that's if things go smoothly; however if they announce anything before then, I'll definitely amend the first post with that announcement as soon as I hear/see it.

They're the older 230mm fans that are used in the HAF932 (just black, no LEDs/clear frames) with 180mm blades. To my understanding they don't perform as well as the 200mm fans in the Sniper and the newer ones.

Personally I like it, just not as much as the black version.

Yeah to expand on this - all of Cooler Master's 200mm and 230mm fans have the same blade length and mounting holes. All of their 230mm fans, except the one on the Cosmos S side panel, as well as the Megaflow 200mm fans are rated at 700 RPM/110 CFM/19 DBA. The Storm Sniper fans (Storm Force 200mm) are rated at 1000 RPM/142 CFM/23 DBA.

With the ATCS 840, you might as well leave the front 230mm fan since if you install two 120mm fan on the back of the HDD cage, you'll have plenty of air circulation. The top 230mm fan closest to the drive bay cages just sucks out air before it gets to cool your GPU and CPU, so you are better off removing this fan. I actually have my PSU on top acting as an exhaust, as well as two 120mm bottom intake fans (zip tied one to the PSU mount), two 120mm fans on the back of the HDD cage and two 120mm side intake fans.

Well, I hope that the space at the the bottom for the additional 120mm holds a 140mm with 120 mounts since that's what Cooler Master told me and I already bought a 140mm for that space.

Regarding the new version, does anyone have a link or website that they can direct me toward? I'd like to check it out. My hope is that the next version has a similar interior (black if the case is black & the same cable management holes) along with the other improvements as the HAF-X such as one or two hotswap bays & USB 3.0 connections. Better yet, make it positive air pressure (maybe room for a 200mm at the bottom ), fix the PSU filter location (WTH were they thinking?) and make the side panels thicker.

I pretty much have everything so I'm going to build this weekend. My initial set up is going to be a bit different than some I've read. In addition to adding the 2 120mms behind the HDD cage & the 140mm w/ 120mm mounts (that better fit...) at the bottom, I plan to reverse the rear fan to intake since my heatsink fans are too big for my ram. Then I'll disable the top "230"mm fan at the rear and leave the one on top closest to the HDD cage as the only exhaust since the cpu heatsink will be blowing air toward the center.

Not sure if will work out as hoped or even if I can try it at all (the heatsink fan may not clear the MB chipset heatsink near the rear I/O ports ), but I figure it's worth a shot. If not, then I guess spend more money on a Noiseblocker 120mm PWM fan in place of the stock 140mm to clear the ram, leave the rear fan for exhaust, and disable the top 230mm near the HDD cage like everyone else.

Oh, in case this might be useful to someone else, I'm going to try the DEMCiflex round 140mm filter attached to the bottom of the case for the PSU, and assuming it comes with out the store logo and the rear fan screws are flush with the case, theDEMCiflex square 120mm filter for the rear fan.

There is NO solid data on it yet, or even any official statements, but you can rest assured that they are working on it (just don't assume the COMPUTEX prototype will be what to look for, that's all it was; a prototype). I can say it will have USB 3.0, though, that'll be a given, and the airflow structure will be completely re-worked, but I don't have any details about that. You need the patience of a saint if you want anything directly from the company about it, though, it'll be quite a while before they come out and say anything, much less release it. Though again, I'll amend the first post of the thread with anything that's officially announced as soon as I see/hear it, and upon the name announcement, will change the thread title; this will be the first thing you should look for, though I'm almost certain it will be put up in Hardware News before then.

Can I join this club??
I've been using this case for over a month an everyday it constantly amazes with its build quality, attention to detail, space, ease of use, cooling, motherboard tray, fans, included accessories an its classy looks.

Its unbelievable.

I feel sorry for all the HAFX owners. And all other case owners.

Once you lay ur hands on the brushed aluminum theres no going back

Something with the same 17DB sound but faster an better CFM?? thanks.
17dBA + more than 40CFM is impossible at that fan size, sorry. If you still want a recommendation, then go with either an S-Flex G, ZM-F3, or high-speed Yate Loon, and get a fan controller.

When I wanted a quiet fan to go on my Megahalems in my non-oc'd build, I chose a San Ace 9S1212L401. You can see its behavior in item 1. in my sig. Actually, I studied that study to make my decision.

You might choose another fan, since San Aces from Newark require that you put on the pins and plugs yourself. I find for case fan work a Slip Stream 1200 rpm or 1600 rpm sounds quieter than its SPL, since it's all white noise with no blade hum. But for most uses I go with a Gentle Typhoon AP-14. I have two I am going to put in my case later today.
