Fan controllers are pretty useful for controlling fan speeds. Just show your friends which knob controls the CPU fan(s) and tell them to NEVER EVER turn that one .

As for temp sensors, I have them as well but they just measure ambient temp. Easier and better to use programs like Coretemp to check your cpu temps.

With 2 decent fans in the middle? On-par with a RV02/FT02 with the old FM181 fans. Inferior to the RV02/FT02 with the (new) AP181 fans. both are great air cooling chassis'.

Both the RV02/FT02 and the ATCS 840 have a lot of great points about them, so I suggest making a little chart of each option's pros and cons.

I've worked on an ATCS 840 for a friend's build, I loved it. I also love the RV02/FT02.

well the pro for rv02 is: stack cooling, cheaper than 840, 90 degree board and loads of dust filters and huge window on left panel, nice black interior

cons for rv02: top cant fit a dvi to vga adpater+vga connection, the front is ugly, not aluminium, no removable mobo tray and i wont get ap fans with rv02

pros for 840: removable mobo tray, aluminium, nice looking,

cons for 840: pretty expensive compared to rv02, no black interior

You can use a DVI to VGA adapter:
http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduc...odid=CB-016-OK

The RV02 is shipping with AP fans just like the FT02, I've seen one confirmed case and heard of others. It will just come down to luck.

I don't think the RV02 looks bad, but if you prefer the ATCS 840's looks and can afford it, go for it. If you feel more comfortable going with the RV02, I don't think you will be disappointed.

the model thats supposed to come with ap fans is the RV02-E and that model has been canceled by silverstone, only some ft02 with red interior come with ap

although im still kinda leaning towards rv02 but also fractal design r3 case looks quite nice

i just wish atsc 840 was under 120 quid then id get it

Goes to show how each person is entitled to their own opinion since I'm pretty much the opposite. I actually like the look and I feel it goes fine with my ATCS 840. Scythe Kama Bay doesn't come with extra HD bays and the CFP51 seems great in looks and quality...but I'd just be too picky about that front logo

Unless you use something like the Aquaero or a T-Balancer controller, you normally won't be able to control fans via readings of external sensors. Note that I didn't reference a fan controller at all in the other post.

Umm.. no really the current models are shipping with AP fans and not FM fans, both FT02 and RV02. It just depends on whether you get "old" or "new" stock.

The Fractal R3 is a nice looking case, that is for sure. With all the fan slots full it will probably cool up there with the others.

You have a Gigabyte MB. Those allow ET6 to control the fan speed automatically, either by voltage or by PWM. You set the control mode in BIOS, then set the ET6 Smart tab to Auto or Advanced.

Try it.
