Actually for the first few months of its release, the 840 was $280 pretty much everywhere, and I guess people got turned off, thinking it would stay there, and went Antec or Lian Li instead. It dropped all at once to $200 after those few months and has stayed there ever since.

The main reasons I can see for people not preferring it would be stock airflow (negative pressure-oriented + top fan that prematurely exhausts air away from the components), no prepainted interior, and cable management, as you said; with modifications you can fix all of these but not everyone wants to put further investments in to do something that should have been fixed on release, anyway.

Since CM is doing a new version, hopefully they'll have addressed those; I know they did a very good job with the HAF-X, anyway.

true, it isnt modular.. just have to tie up the unused cables. im thinking of making a big shield like the haf x has

edit:
good find rpgman1

I think I might actually have a dremel laying around somewhere, good thing these panels are so thin! It might actually be easy to do despite my complete inexperience with such things

@ Chunky_Chimp,

Are there any updates on what the new revision looks like? I vaguely remember seeing something not too long ago, and from what I remember I hated the aesthetics of it.

Unfortunately, no. They showed a prototype of it at COMPUTEX back in June, but they scrapped that design and are doing something entirely new that NOBODY outside of Cooler Master has seen yet. There are some details that were set in stone that I could share, but right now it's best not to, especially since the features behind those details may already have been redesigned/removed. What's certain is that the header aspect of USB 3.0 will play a role in its release, since they seem to want to incorporate connection to standardized USB 3.0 headers instead of rear ports in the stock design, and currently no standardized USB 3.0 header exists. The ball is in Intel's court on that one, so don't blame Cooler Master.

Glad they decided to scrap that design, because I remember being pretty fugly. I think they should keep the aethitcs close to the current design but bring it more up to par with current innovations. Also maybe change those darn clips on the front panel lolz

I don't see in what sense this case is bad for cable management. Yes, it's big, but the only problem that poses is that you may need some extensions. I didn't even mod the motherboard tray and managed to do great management on it. It's all about patience and tying things together behind the case.

not bad, just so open that it takes more work and patience than most customers want to do.

The problem is that the interior design is too "open"; you have few places where you can actually hide cables going back to front/front to back, and top to bottom/bottom to top. Plus they actually left LESS room behind the motherboard tray for cables than the HAF932, which wasn't a good idea in the end... though I suppose it had to be that way, what with the removable motherboard tray and all.
