It's odd...Windows 7 and BIOS are able to detect it as well as read out its model number and everything but for some reason it just won't read anything anymore (CD, DVD, and BR). My first clue was when I tried to do a memory test with MemTest86 through CD boot...yet it wouldn't boot. After losing my RAID0 array, I tried to rebuild it and reinstall Windows...and noticed that I couldn't boot the Windows 7 DVD either. Tried putting it on my backup computer with the same results. Repeated everything again after blowing a can of air through the optical drive as well as cleaning the lens with a dry q-tip...still nothing. Last thing I tried out was just putting different CDs and DVDs into the drive while inside Windows...but when I try to double click the drive...it would ask me to insert a disc in (even though there is one) while ejecting the tray. Came to a conclusion that it may be some type of hardware failure. Since it's 2 months over it's 1 year warranty...I doubt I'll get anything out of it except calling them up to help me find a place where I can try to get it repaired (explained on LG's website).

Starting to look nice...can't wait to see the finished loop. Btw is that a CM Storm Scout...I never realized how much bigger the ATCS was .

Hey guys, I'm nabbing up a used ATCS 840 in short order and was curious how I should arrange my airflow.

Here's what I was thinking.

Option 1: Front 230mm intake, bottom 120mm intake, twin 230mm's exhaust, and my H50 on the rear exhaust (With the grill cut out! ^^)

Option 2: Same as option 1 but flip the top fan closest to the front for intake.

Option 3: Same as option 1 but disable the top fan closest to the front (maybe it exhausts cooler air prematurely?)

Option 4: Same as option 1 but the H50's fan is flipped so it intakes air from the outside of the case and pushes it towards the two top exhaust fans
.

So what do you guys think might be optimal for my setup? I also have an old thermaltake drive bay to fan adaptor I could throw up by the 5.25" bays for another intake but I might not have a spare fan to throw into it. (See how it goes)

Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Option 3 is what owners would usually do since what you said is a little true. However, you should really test it out first whether you feel it's necessary or not with some testing as it might depend on what fans you are using in your case.

If you feel like you need some extreme air cooling...you can fit a total of twelve fans in the case excluding any modded adjustments to fit more. This is how I have my case setup.

1x 150mm front intake (intake cool air)
3x 120mm behind hard drives (help bring cool air through)
1x 120mm bottom intake (extra cool air to pull through GPUs/CPU)
1x 120mm GPU exhaust (just as it's said)
2x 120mm push/pull on CPU Heatsink (just as it's said)
1x 120mm exhaust (pull air out of the push/pull)
3x 120mm top exhaust (pull out any hot air left in the case)

As pvp said, option 3 is the typical set-up. But do try out option 4: looks promising!

How is that coolermaster fan on the bottom intake?? IS that the one with the sleeve bearing an is it noisy positioned horizontally as u have it???

Alright guys, so after reading through this thread and pondering things.

I'm going to try options 3 & 4 and see which works best for me temperature wise. (And report back afterwards of course)

But! I've come up with my ultimate master plan when funds (Christmas) become available.

In addition to the stock front 230mm fan, stock 230mm top fans, bottom Enermax Magma 120mm fan, and the H50 with the GT AP-14. I'm going to add two Thermalright X-Silent 120's pulling air and helping guide cool air from the front of the case and after buying two 120mm fan mounts for the 5.25" bays, another two X-Silent 120's pulling more air from the front.

After that it'll be a test to see if the H50 exhausting or intaking results in better temps but ultimately I'll be going for a positive-pressure sort of build.

Can't wait to get all this done. I'll be sure to include pictures.

it hardly pushes any air, maybe 40 cfm. it's extremely quiet though. I replaced the led fan that came with the CFP51B with a S-FlexG that I leave at 12 volts since it's so quiet in there. When the other controlled fans are at a reasonably quiet level the case has positive pressure. When they are cranked it goes negative and the heat goes out the back exhausts. Did you get your Silverstone bay converter yet?

welcome! I'm excitied to see what your results will be. this case has many different ways of cooling and I am curious to see the results with the H50 as intake and both top fans as exhaust. I'm assuming your vid card exhausts out the back due to the pics.

Not yet, waiting for cash to build up, need to buy some more fans along with it.

Hey is this the exact model fan on the bottom intake, the one u said was silent?

thanks.

That's basically my config, I can tell you that, from my test, I found that this config was the best one. The ONLY difference is that I have only one fan from the front of the case and that the back fan (behing the heatsink) is exhaust not intake. I decided to put it exhaust because fresh air arrives from the front fan, while putting it intake I think it could blow inside hot air that arrives from PSU and GPU fans (hot air is blown out from the rear of the case and, rising upward, been blown in by the back fan).

Instead, I'd like to change the direction of the firt top 230mm fan to intake and see if there are differences (teorically more fresh air, but also more dust....), but now I don't have a lot of time!
