That's cool, I figured you would keep me in.

Actually I try to recommend this case whenever water cooling type threads appear. I still laugh at the ability to fit my large quad radiator up top, with a little portion sticking out the rear end.

It's bits of simplicity like that that make it better than the 800D, at least IMO. I mean, yeah, you get thicker side panels, the pre-painted interior and the cable management, the hot-swap bays, and a pseudo-8th expansion slot, but the advantages come to a dead end there. The 840 is cheaper, has better rad capacity without modding, better airflow, dual power supply option, pop-up I/O with eSATA, more drive bays, all while actually being slightly smaller than the 800D... yep. Got it made.

Don't forget it has a removable motherboard.

Personally I think the 800D is a bit bland and way too commercialized, kind of like the Antec 900.

I remember visiting Microcenter earlier last year and seeing the 800D in person. The thing looked like hell; door hinge was messed up, expansion slots were off centered, and some 5.25" bay panels were missing. How is this thing built like a tank if it can't handle being shown as a showcase model?

Ah, yeah, though I felt that was a bit too obvious and just slipped listing it.

To me that's just Corsair's MO; commercialize something that would, without their style and support, be a very forgettable product. Just look at their power supplies... the only true standout is the AX1200, since it uses an OEM nobody else really has yet. Hell, the only reason I got their RAM was because it was about the only set at the time with removable heatsinks on the spreaders, else I couldn't get my San Ace on the "push" end of my cooler. I was also seriously |-| that close to getting the Antec Signature SG-850, but then the HX850 came out with better cables and slightly higher efficiency, and was 20 bucks cheaper... it was a very tight race but the HX850 won. Maybe if I somehow wind up with craptons of money, and Antec makes a fully modular Delta-platform-based 750/850 watt unit with Corsair AX-ish sleeving/cables, I'll get that and sell the HX, but until then this is more than acceptable.

It must've gotten busted up in shipping and they decided to use that as the display unit. No case is immune to shipping damage.

Surely, they must be M3 bolts, am I right?
Wrong! (Zeus Bolt Thrower, you too!)

Fan screws (NOT bolts!) are always (!) UNC 8 32:
N 8 - 32 UNC 0,164" 4,166mm screw 3,42mm hole 32 turns/inch0,794 turns/mm (coarse thread)

These are slightly bigger than the UNC 6 32 used to mount the PSU.

An M3 screw has a diameter of 3mm and a rise of 5 (fine thread).

I'll edit this post when I find it. Wife on my back right now...

EDIT: Okay, I bought thermal pads for the MIPS cooler twice. The first came from AquaTuning, and were pre-cut. That turned out to be a little expensive. I later bought a sheet of EK branded 0.5mm sheet from FrozenCPU, and that was very affordable. Good stuff to have around, too- I've used scraps for mounting all kinds of things, from drive coolers to chipset heat pipes. Anyway, point was to stick with the thermal pads rather than try and use paste.

Yeah man, I've decided to hold off on buying the MIPS cooler, EK has a memory block they are putting on the market this month. As soon as they're made available, I'll purchase one to cool my Dominators I love EK blocks. +rep to ya
