I've really enjoyed my 840 the last year or so that I've owned it. But now it has become a bit cluttered and I've run out of space inside it. Hate to see her go but, it's time to move on.

Some updated pics:
Funny, just looking at these pics again of the Silver Tower of Power. I had never noticed before (maybe because most 840s are black on black) but the shape of the supplemental exhaust duct outside the expansion slots looks like the back of a CRT TV or monitor! Still have a couple of those.

Hello

I have readd this thread and I wanted to ask to set up a few tips on how to improve the air cooling issue.

Reading various threads and thinking I had thought three possible solutiions with variants for the superior fans.

Reading various threads and turning and had thought of a soolucion three possible variants for the ventiiladores aa Supeior you below.

Basic to all the solutions I have thought

1) for the front fan change the original fan with

http://www.coolermaster.nl/shop/prod...roducts_id=612

or

http://www.coolermaster.nl/shop/prod...roducts_id=515

I have not yet clear which is better.

2) I cut the front panel that covers the fan as you see in attached photo but instead they've gotten I use the blue mehs pannel to improve airflow.

Front photo link cut

http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2010...gnus-persson/3

3) 1 x120 GT Schythe 1850 in the bottom of the box

4) 2x led zalman 120 front of the structure of hard drives

http://www.alternate.es/html/product...2=Case+Modding

5) In the lower 5.25 3 holes I got a module (the same of my old stacker) with 1 x120 1850 GT Schythe getting air.

6) Here the first point more debatable something, I've thought and seen if they do in the antec there are no reasons I can not do that here. The PSU rather than sucking the air down fan yes, but also dust, I put it with the fan facing upward where take hot air and help suck the air outlet. As you can see the source put it to the fan looking into the case (Antec Nine Hundred kind to understand)? Tell you that I have the Corsair HX1000 you.

7) 1x120 led zalman on the back drawing air.

8) Noctua NH-D14 with two 3000 rpm schythe gt

This is the common base now we come to the big question I have: the fans above.

Almost certainly change the two 200- with 3 gt schythe 1850 but I have three possible configurations

a) The first fan (from the front) getting air and taking second and third (explanation I've read is if the first fan draws air that is cold air out because air has not yet had time of heat being so far the components therefore ideally aim cold air.)

b) The first and the second fan (from front) getting air and taking third (same reasoning as above)

c) The three top fans air getting, this less convinced me that just because I think there are very few fans taking out (only the back fan)

d) as a last resort, but also see it less clear, leaving the two of 200 (but using the improved play out on the first point) on first getting the second drawing.

You like what you see?

Well I miss you because this is already too long.

Reading various threads and thinking I had thought three possible solutiions with variants for the superior upper fans.

Reading various threads and turning and had thought of a soolucion three possible variants for the ventiiladores aa Supeior you below. Repeat

Basic to all the solutions I have thought

1) for the front fan change the original fan with

http://www.coolermaster.nl/shop/prod...roducts_id=612
Not exactly one of the best fans. There is really no major reason to change the stock fan. But if you insist on using a LED fan use the Xigmatek XLF-F200x available in black/blue/orange.
2) I cut the front panel that covers the fan as you see in attached photo but instead they've gotten I use the blue mehs pannel to improve airflow.
An alternative to using mesh is to increase the space between the plate and the case....
Front photo link cut

http://images.bit-tech.net/content_i...rsson/bd22.jpg

3) 1 x120 GT Schythe 1850 in the bottom of the box
I favour the be!quiet Silent Wings USC or Noiseblocker Multiframes because they are much quieter. I would not put a fan here, unless you insist on the PSU drawing air from inside the case.

4) 2x led zalman 120 front of the structure of hard drives
Again, I favour the be!quiet Silent Wings USC or Noiseblocker Multiframes because they are much quieter.
If you insist on using LED fans use the Enermax Apollish 120/140s.
I would only add these two fans if you have 3 or more HDDs and multiple GPUs......

a review of this fan

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coo..._10.html#sect0

5) In the lower 5.25 3 holes I got a module (the same of my old stacker) with 1 x120 1850 GT Schythe getting air.
see above for fan selection; but good idea to add fan here.

There is a filter under the fan which should block the dust. It would draw as much dust as the other bottom fan....
Also, I fear that the effect would be to draw cool air from the lower fans = stealing it from the GPU, RAM, and CPU.......
I would recommend this solution only if your case temperatures are good, and you have a massive dust problem.

7) 1x120 led zalman on the back drawing air.
Again, I favour the be!quiet Silent Wings USC or Noiseblocker Multiframes because they are much quieter.

8) Noctua NH-D14 with two 3000 rpm schythe gt
I have the NH-D14 on an Evga P55 FTW200. It is huge!!! and conflicts with my RAM!! I am using the stock collers with the 7Volt adapter (included), but do find them a bit noisy: Noiseblocker Multiframes are already here...

Too many (loud) fans; and the front one woud sure draw in the exhaust air from the rear ones......

b) The first and the second fan (from front) getting air and taking third (same reasoning as above)
Same as above.

c) The three top fans air getting, this less convinced me that just because I think there are very few fans taking out (only the back fan)
Correct.

d) as a last resort, but also see it less clear, leaving the two of 200 (but using the improved play out on the first point) on first getting the second drawing.
Changing the two top 230 fans to three 120s is only an option when you really need to move massive amounts of air (at about 2000-3000rpm!). In all other cases, the stock fans are good. (If absolutely necessary, switch to Xigmateks).
Some people used the front fan in, rear fan out method; but they did not have the additional fan in the 5.25" bay like you are planning.
I think you will find that the best solution is to leave the stock top fans installed, and simply turn the front one off.

You like what you see?

Well I miss you because this is already too long.

Thanks for you help

The image indicates that for me is the best solution
I prefer to create positive air pressure: more air in than the out fans can transport.
The result is that the pressure will be released through the thousands of openings in the case, blocking dust from entering.
Making the count:
PSU is closed loop.
IN: One 230 (lower front), one 120 (5.25" bay), and possibly the 120 (bottom) all running at full speed.
OUT: One 230 (top - rear) running at 5 or 7Volts max, and one 120 (rear/back) running at full speed.

This is a completely sufficient set-up with up to three hard drives and one GPU, without major overclocking.

Added:
One major reason to not turn the PSU around is that the cables would be on the "wrong" side...
From what I have read, the Enermax Apollish are just about the best the best LED fans around. They also have an excellent feature that the brightness of the LEDs is independent of the fan voltage!

You're lucky, I had to mod the bottom of my case to fit a 240 rad.

are you still using the 2 large fans up top along with the 3 120mm's? i'm currently only running the 2 230mm fans up top and was thinking about switching to 3 120mm's. Only reason i haven't is because i think the noise level would be higher.
