Good choice on the case mate! I love mine (as does everyone else). I personally like my PSU on the bottom, just for the ease of cable routing, with the exception of the 8-pin mobo connector. But I have to say I agree with most folks in that the top 230mm closest to the drive bays is almost worthless, and definately overkill. I do however LIKE my 230mm intake. My drives never have gotten above 39C, and that is very acceptable in my book, and I am in a hot hot room. But everyones equipment is different and setups can change alot, so individual results are gonna vary quite a bit. I have 2 fan controllers and control EVERYTHING that blows air, so I have found a happy quiet perfection that I couldnt be happier with. This is THE case to get, so welcome to the club!

Yeah the fans closes to the 5.25 bays are overkill and actually suck up the air way to early. If i put the front 2 120mm on the top to almost barely running and have the one in teh back on high seems to get better temps that way. One thing i did notice is that some of the motherboard riseres where stripped inside about 8 of the 16 that i recived where stripped. It was pretty weird and have never had that. Anyone else have that problem?

Heya,
I am looking to pull the trigger on one of these cases and I was wondering if one of you 840 owners could give me a small piece of information. Is the Coolermaster Case badge embossed into the removeable face plate thing or is it some sort of decal (which could be removed). I really like the case but I think the silver badge breaks up the appearance of the black version. Also, about how tall are the case feet, they look about half an inch but photographs can be decieving. Anyhow if this has been beat to death already I apologize but this tread has gotten pretty long. Thanks again.

The front Cooler Master logo isn't laser etched or anything, it sticks out. I'm not sure how one would remove it though. As for the case feet, the case doesn't even stand 1 inch above the ground.

To MeatPuppet:

Since I actually had to remove the badge in order to get in powder coated, I can tell you all about it. The badge itself is on with a mild adhesive. Fairly easy to remove. Now here is the part you are probably not gonna like. The badge actually sits ina cut oout divet in the same shape as the cooler master logo. So if you wanted it to be all smooth, im afraid you will have to fill in that area with something, and then paint it. I wish I had taken a picture of it close up before I put the decal back on.

I would not have put it back on either, but I used that area to drill a hole in that piece to hold it in place while the powder was being cooked onto it, so now I have a 1/2 hole drilled straight through...lol

Hope this helps, and answers your question. Oh, and yes, the feet are about half an inch tall once mounted. Its just tall enuff to slide my pinky finger under it when they are mounted.

If you want to replace the front 230mm fan with a 120mm fan, I have bad news for you - you're going to have to disassemble the whole front of the case to get the screws to line up. So I just used some zip ties, I'm too lazy to disassemble the front.

By boredgunner, shot with Canon PowerShot A590 IS at 2009-09-06

Yes... colorful zip ties. It's a temporary solution though, I'm getting a Scythe S-Flex 1900 RPM fan for the front, so I can have dual 120mm front fans. They will go right on the HDD cage, right on top of each other. With a 120mm fan instead of the 230mm fan, HDD temps dropped 1-2 degrees.
