Interesting. Thanks for the replies, +rep!

I wouldn't be using the mounting holes, just velcro, my preferred fan mounting method AHHH I just looked at a review with better pics, and I see what you mean as far as the top fans go. Not sure if I could use velcro there. HRM.

Dang...

[Blasphemy] Looks like I'm back to the Antec 1200 as my next case... [/Blasphemy]

I just love the way this case cools the hard drives though. Oh well.

Not sure why you would need/want 4 x 120mm. 2 x 230mm should cool just as well with the least amount of noise for the top. No matter how I punch the numbers I don't see 4 x 120mm being that good. Also the 1200 only has one top exhaust fan. I think it's 200 mm.

I came from the 902 where I had 2 panaflos (120 x 38) on the front bay(modded) with an ultra kaze as exahaust. That setup doesn't cool any better than what I have now and the dust issue is not as severe.(I was cleaning the dust filters out twice a week. They were unbearably dirty if I did it once a weeked) The dust issue is what made me get another case anyway. I've always been a fan of 120's too. In fact I was looking at the 1200 but in the end I went with the atcs 840.

While we're on that subject there, I noticed you're using the same Rosewill as I am currently. You like that one? More importantly, is your reset button recessed, or did you get a lucky one like me where it's actually poking up?

I want uber silence and I'm not confident the 230mm fans will be any good at uber silent levels. I know for a fact that my current favorite Zalman ZM-F3 120mm fan can hit uber silent and still push a decent amount of air. So ya, uber silence

Actually they do move a decent amount of air, especially at full speed, without making any more than a whisper (even at full speed). There is the issue with vibration resonance, though, but you can fix that by removing and re-mounting the fans.

It has served me extremely well for the price! I am quite happy with it. I had to check on the reset button because I never use it actually. Mine's recessed.

Though I hate working inside of it, it's just too small. Not impossible or extremely hard, just uncomfortable. As such I have my computer sitting on top of it with the case on its side and wood plank covering the side, on top of that wood is where the mobo is sitting. As a result of this setup I am pretty sure my rear side panel metal rail got bent. I can't put the rear exhaust fan in anymore, or latch the side door closed. A quick job with the pliers should fix this though.

Air flow is decent, and I really like how ghetto-useful this case is. You can pull of the front and snake in a duct connected directly to the heatsink fan, for some cold-air ducting overclocking goodness. When I only used one 5.25 bay I also sometimes put a 120mm fan in the 5.25 bays, pointed right at my heatsink fan. I think that was quite helpful as well.

I really like the fact that it's such a cheap case but has really good hard drive cooling still. It is pretty good looking too. All in all,

The plot thickens! Though when I say uber silence I mean can't even tell it's running from ~3 ft away.

Trust me, those are SILENT. I'm about 2 feet away from my system's location at any time (as long as I'm actually at the desk) and the vibration resonance was MUCH more prominent than the motor or the air movements, however the resonance wasn't ever particularly annoying or irritating.

Okay, but I'm still skeptical! I am being more and more tempted though to just buy one and make it work either way... especially after reading you can do dual PSU mounts on the top and bottom, awesome feature.

edit: I just saw the ATCS 840 vs Rosewill R5604 pic in your OP and Lolol'd. This thing is a monster... I like it.

I wouldn't be skeptical, really, it's general knowledge that the bigger a fan is, the slower it can turn to push the same amount of air as a smaller fan, so it's quieter.

But yes, it is a monster compared to the R5604. The only problem is carrying the thing... it's not suitable for adding carry handles, and the side edges are all square (oh, and it's 2 feet tall and ~10 inches wide), so it's best not to move it very far at a time, especially when loaded (mine is about 50 pounds, and that's considering that it's full aluminum with only a handful of plastic parts to interrupt that!).
