I can see this problem existing as the EVGA 780i has the CPU socket a little closer to the left side toward the back exhaust if I remember correctly (might be the same for other 775 boards). I knew the Noctua was big but I didn't think it would be that big
. This is why I sold my Megahalem (owned it for a month but I didn't even open it) and went for the Venemous-X as I don't want to run into any size or RAM issues especially with using 38mm fans.
Chucky_Chimp should add this compatibility problem in the opening post. However, more research should be done as well as I'm not sure if all 775 motherboards are the same (in terms of CPU socket position). This problem should be less of an issue with some 1366 (by looking at my X58 Classified) as the CPU socket is more towards the center.
