What is the most you've ever paid for a part? - Page 6

Hahah, I preordered the PlayStation 2 when its coming out and paid around $700 for it. After a couple games and an additional controller it was just less than a thousand lol..

The PS2 is still kickin man. If you still have it I think it was a worthwhile investment.

Oh that I will agree with you there, but that 8800 GTX was the one time I went all out on a part. I usually stick with something that's just step or two under the best to keep cost down and performance up. I made a fool's bet and lost. I thought for sure that card would last me for a legnthy time. In the end I succumbed to the temptation of the 4870 what a glorious return to ATI it was (it reminded me of when I got my 9800Pro).

Most I ever paid for a single component is a 3-way tie, oddly enough. I paid $199.99 each for my E8400, my 8800GT, and my Silverstone Decathlon 750W.

Yeah, I bought it when it first came out since it was my first real build. I also bought a Ti 4600 which was DX8, only to have the DX9 9800 cards released weeks later. I also got the 850E Gigabyte board which was $299... I vowed afterwards to never buy the high end again. Now I just get the middle of the road, or wait for5 prices to come down (like I did with my Q6700).
