[TCM]FurMark 1.6.0 is up for grabs

A new version of FurMark, an OpenGL benchmark and graphics card stress testing tool has now been made available. According to the changelog, the 1.6.0 update features:

- New: added a GPU temperature monitoring graph in stability test mode.
- New: added a checkbox to enable post-processing effect in stability test mode. Post-processing effect shader is loaded from the file post-processing-fx.xml. So if you know GLSL programming, you can customize this effect shader.
- New: added OpenGL 3.0 support. If OpenGL 3.0 is detected, the rendering is done via an OpenGL 3.0 context.
- New: added new interface translations.
- New: added start and end GPU temperatures logging in benchmark mode.
- Change: little interface reorganization to better handle translations with long text blocks.

Nice, I use this all the time to test for stability, and more importantly, temps under extended full load.

Getting kind of tired of seeing all that fur, though. =P

I wonder if this version still completely reboots my machine in a matter of seconds I know the card is stable but for some reason this app always does it.

Doesn't sound good. Sounds like you're pushing the card to dangerous temps so it forcibly shuts down to save the card from becoming a sticky puddle in your PC tower.

Score for the GPU temps in stability. They should add your current clock speeds to that chart.

Furmark is so ridiculously overkill it's retarded. To get a feel for the silliness imagine a system running a 4870 increase 170W over idle power draw.

With my BIOS mod the core on one of these cards never goes above 70 running a Furmark stability test, but pumping 80A through a Vreg is silly. I've only dared to run 5 minutes of it during the card's life. Any game (even Crysis) pushes 50A, maybe 55A, and folding runs 50A.

You might as well take an acetylene torch to the center of your card to test your overclock.
