so the lower Vcore isn't helping that much with load temps? I've heard that recently.

Yeah. D0 is hot but still a better deal than C0. C0 was more of a lottery than D0. My C0 could do 3.7Ghz with my cooling and at 1.4vcore. I get 4.2 with same amount of heat at much lower volts, so, I am happy with D0 at this time.

If you could already do 4Ghz with C0 with your cooling, and you don't have WC, D0 is not worth it.

lets see how this i7 920 3851A368 D0 handles memory clocking with 10x memory multiplier. First stop at DDR3-2000Mhz 7-8-7-20 1T at 1.65v

System:
Room ambient temp = 23.5-26C
  • Win 7 Ultimate 64bit RC OS used
  • Powermate wattage meter reads peak system power consumption of ~628 watts drawn from wall

Linx 0.5.8.2 Load

Linx 0.5.8.2 20 pass

for benching

i7 920 3851A368 D0 EK Supreme LT / Feser480 H20
  • Max 32M Super Pi = 4685Mhz HT enabled / TBD HT disabled
  • Max Validation = 4710Mhz HT enabled / TBD HT disabled

All benchmarks done in Win 7 Ultimate 64bit RC.

@4710Mhz at 1.64v

@4685Mhz at 1.616v

~40-46C idle/ 70-78C load for super pi 32m according to coretemp 0.99.5

room ambient between 20-24C

Holy crap you are a brave man running that much vcore even if for benching only. I'm too chicken to exceed 1.55v. Impressive numbers though.

Not great numbers, but I am very proud of this, in many many years of overclocking and tech nerdyness I got to and past 4 on air. Its too hot to run permanently but I am doing some 3d benches while it lasts, and on 12GB of ram no doubt!

I normally do not participate in these epeen threads, but I have to for this one! A water cooled set up looks nice right about now...The window AC is at 55!
