9800GT 512mb or 1GB??

Thread Starter
I'm trying to decided on a graphics card, but I need to know if the 1gb, and extra $30, will be worth spending over the 512mb. Will I see a big difference? Is it worth the money?

Which is better?

(This card isn't for my Dirt McGirt system)

Depends on what resolution you're going to use it at, more resolution means you'll need more memory, for 1680x1050 its probably worthwhile getting the larger memory and for 1920x1200 its definatley worth it.

If you're going to go 1920x1200 I would go a step up from the 9800gt IMO, at least the GTX+ or maybe even a GTX260.

Not really, it shows little imrpovement on high resolutions.

Make sure it's DDR3 though, it may be DDR2. (idk if they have those but its worth checking)

it will literally make no difference..remember the 8800/9800gt's only have a 256bit interface

Normally i would concur with the crowd about go for the 1gb if using above 1600x1200 type comment, but i went and looked at a bunch of in-game benchmarks with 1gb 9800GT's vs refference 9800GT's... and there was practically no difference at high res.
