i7 920 - DX58SO Overclock Help

Thread Starter
Alright I have an i7 920 and its on the DX58SO Motherboard.

I have read a lot of overclocking messages and everything and for the most part I understand what I need to do, but for the life of me I can't seem to get anything to work. I almost always get 3 beeps on boot up or some other kind of error.

I was wondering if anyone out their has the same setup and has it overclocked and would please share a picture or the EXACT changes in the bios they made to get it running stable.

I appreciate it, Thank You.

could you please post your specs in your sig - it helps us help you.

Have a look in your mobo manual for three beep post (error) code.

Tell us what settings you've been using

Intel DX58SO MotherBoard
Intel Core i7 920 (BX80601920)
OCZ Gold Tri-Channel 3GB PC10666 DDR3 - 1333mhz
9800 GT Video Card 512 DDR3
Ultra x-Blaster ATX Mid tower Case
750watt ATX PS

I have tried to simply up the bclk to about 160 and the vcore to 1.35 and a few settings in between but to no avail, it fails every time.

I've read that the SmackOver isn't exactly the greatest OCing board. For example, apparently Tech Report couldn't get their base clock past 160 as well. Also didn't help they couldn't change their QPI multipler either. If its not that old, have you considered another board?

Hi all, I have the same board and I was hoping to find some help/step-by-step guides on how to overclock my CPU. I am using a stock cooling solution so I know its limitations, Im not looking to achieve anything fancy - 3.0 GHz would be fine for me, if you think I could push it to 3.2 GHz even better, but I dont think I'll go more than that with the stock heatsink.
Would appreciate some help with this. In case you guys need to see how this board's BIOS allows for overclocking, here is a neat article I found that basically showcases all the overclocking settings in the BIOS along with a multitude of screen shots. I have never overclocked before, but hope to do so now
