im running 800mhz ram and get a solid 5.9, actually due to the odd multiplyer of 13.5 it was running under 800mhz when i ran the test

but i get a solid 5.9 for everything in Win7 except for the graphics which is a 4.3 for aero and 5.3 for gaming even with beta win 7 graphics drivers (the graphics are heavily overclocked lol and a low res screen)

i actually find win 7 to be much more generous on the index than vista was , with vista i only got a max 5.2 for the cpu no matter how overclocked it was

Maybe it's cause I am running 2x1GB and 2x512Mb sticks. Eventually I am going to get 2 more 1GB sticks to have all 4 matching instead of just matching pairs. My RAM was the lowest score so I am at 5.5, but everything else was 5.9+. Not at my home computer now, but I think my RAM scored a 5.9 in Vista. I am also running the 64-bit beta and my Vista is 32-bit. Not sure if that makes a difference on my score either.

I wonder what I get on W7, I get straight 5.9s in Vista. But no one really cares about WIE.

Agreed/

I'll use real benchmarks results, thanks..

Not something that runs a suite of stuff in less than 5 mins and generates a number. The Vista one means nothing and Windows 7 one will be the same. In fact the One in Vista you can hack to say anything you like.. I can have a WEI of 9.9 in Vista if I so wanted.. Not that it means anything.

The highest possible WEI score in Vista is 5.9. That means a quad-core at 3.6GHz and 4.2GHz can only get a 5.9. That doesn't really make sense now, does it?

I also agree here. It is more for people that don't know what it is actually testing and some lesser informed people will think they need to upgrade because they have a low number.

That is why they had some games actually have recommended ratings for the index also. Then people looked up a game and saw they needed a 5.6 rating for it, but they only had a 5.5 rating and spent money they didn't need to just to play that game by upgrading a component that really didn't need to be upgraded. Makes you think that MS got something from those game companies that used these ratings.

Yes I know that, but there is a hack going around that lets you do it.. Its pointless and I have made that known on the thread that was posted with the hack on it (Its not on here). All I am saying is that it means nothing, because you can falsify them with a very simple registry hack. And its not like it runs any visible 3d benchmarks either so I don't trust the gaming score for one.

I can see why they did it for things like the games explorer, but IMO WEI is pretty useless.
