Microsoft has cause to celebrate, since it has been granted a patent on the double-click! Yes, just when you thought that these patents should not get any sillier, now Microsoft owns the rights to double clicking. Patent number 6,727,830 was granted to Microsoft on April 27.

An abstract of the application says: "A method and system are provided for extending the functionality of application buttons on a limited resource computing device. Alternative application functions are launched based on the length of time an application button is pressed. A default function for an application is launched if the button is pressed for a short, i.e., normal, period of time.

"An alternative function of the application is launched if the button is pressed for a long, (e.g., at least one second), period of time. Still another function can be launched if the application button is pressed multiple times within a short period of time, e.g., double click.

***? Apple invented the double click, as well as the mouse. Thats right, you wouldnt be using a mouse if it werent for Apple, we would be stuck with trackballs *shudders*. But thats how Microsoft is, they steal everything and call it their own. It seems they steal most of it from Apple. Youd be surprised how many things in Windows came from Apple.

Welp, Microsuck got to the patent office first...

Just like Westinghouse got to the patent office before Tesla for AC current...that one pisses me off because now every history book and teacher miscredits Westinghouse for the invention of AC.

And now he'll kill us! :|

Wow, that is silly indeed. And it's too bad that Apple isn't as mainstream. They have some good pcs and are good for graphics (I'm getting my degree for graphic design) but b/c they're not mainstream, games are hardly ever made for them. Me being a gamer keeps me from buying one.

Lol Apple had 20 years to get to the patent for that!

Everyone where I live knows that Tesla invented AC. Of course that is because Telsa lived in Colorado Springs for a while, so he is a big part of our history.
